Collectors are a recognized species. The codex doesn't lie. Residents are stupid in ME, they make that clear numerous times.

And large scale abductions are not Cerberus' modus operandi. Either way, the Council is stupid.

Nice fanart.

Codex also claims that Citadel was built by protheans and that reapers are a myth.  so codex does in fact lie.

Cerberus's modus operandi is ends justify the means.  they have exploded multiple transports all over the residential areas just to fascilitate births of biotics, they have kidnaped/purchased for batarian slavers multiple children just to enhance one girl, they fascilitated turning an entire colony into husks, etc, etc.  Cerberus didn't do that just to be eeeevil, they did it becasue they had specific fgoals, but they still did it.

Council tries to hide their heads in a sand.  that is not new.

thank you.

Sorry, forgot to add the disclaimer: pending further information. I like to work with what I'm given, you understand. And theorize based on facts. Can't just conjure badassery out of thin air. As it stands now is how my opinion is shaped.

I understand, but we don't know official story behind VS being spectre from ME3, so even if you donť like to work with theories, you can't know what explanation is behind it so any theorizing in this point would be useless.

The Collector Codex entries are from a Cerberus POV, and probably supposed to be excerpts from Cerberus docs.  It's more obvious in the secondary ones, namely because they specifically mention Cerberus monitoring signals and whatnot.  Also, this from the primary entry, which as you say, doesn't lie:

Living beyond the Omega-4 mass relay in the Terminus Systems, the mysterious Collector species is glimpsed so rarely as to be taken for a myth by most in galactic society.

Or did you think that galactic encyclopedias have entires on Scions and Praetorians?

The fact that the VS, the Council, and Anderson acknowledges their existence shows they are accepted by the powers that be. Good thing we're not talking about Nef's neighbors believing in the Collectors, amirite?

leah makes a good point, the codex can be misinformed. However, we all know it is not in this instance.

@Darth K: It's fun to theorize.

Anyway since BW already decided to make VS Spectre, there is no way to change that. But I hope BW will add some "stars" to their carrier to make them worth to be Spectres. For exp, I like to hear something like this about Ash in ME3.

"Ash took out two major pirate strongholds in sector XX and XXX, with a help of small marine unit. By doing so she managed to completely eradicate pirate activities in those two sectors."

I would rather been shown than told, but that's just me.

This makes me sad as I realize that it's always only going to be possible for one of them to be in ME3. Never again can you run around with your original squad of Ashley and Kaidan.
:crying:

Don't tell me you were expecting the vaporized team member from Virmire to be making a reappearance. This is something that should have dawned on you back in the ME1 days.

has Bioware actually made a statement to confirm this? Did a magazine Report the news or is it just purported?

It comes from the same magazine article claiming Big Ben Sniper from the trailer is James Sanders, which we know from Bioware directly is not true. So everyone should just keep that in mind before giving themselves ulcers fretting over Kaidan or Ashley as a Spectre.

It would be pretty funny if Ashley / Kaidan called the shots in ME 3 and was put in charge of the Normandy.

I don't think my main concern is wether or not Ashley has the ability to be a Spectre, but rather wether or not she has the correct mindset.

Surely someone as Xenophobic as Ash wouldn't do all that well working for a multi species organization.

Both Kaidan and Ashley tell you in Horizon "I know my loyalties. I am an Alliance soldier." If the Alliance tells them it's good for humanity to do it, they'll do it. Since the only human spectre was declared officially dead, it makes sense for the Alliance to want another one for the same reasons they wanted one in the first place.

Nihlus became interested in Shepard because of Torfan, Akuze or Elysium. Otherwise Shepard would be just another good soldier, like hundreds of Turians who were also possible candidates. The same thing can happen with Ashley and Kaidan: "I was impressed when I read the reports on that Saren business. That's why I put your name forward as a candidate."

As for the rest of the squad, Wrex is not interested in being under the orders of the council, as he is now the equivalent of a councilor for the Krogan, his people; Liara is the SB; and Garrus said he tried two years ago but he was rejected because of politics and red tape, and that isn't changing in just a couple months. So if anyone of the original squad is to become a spectre, the VS is the best candidate.

Actually,Shepard proved himself on either Torfan,Akuze or Elysium and then on Eden Prime.

And I think that neither Ash or Kaidan are good material for Spectre. If anyone from my ME1/ME2 team should become a Spectre,it's Garrus. Nobody else

Saren? He was the Council's top Spectre, before being indoctrinated and implanted by Sovereign.

And Ashley is hardly xenophobic. Certainly not even in the same star system as Saren.

Garrus doesn't want to be a Spectre. He doesn't want to have to answer to the Council.

Personally, I don't think it's a good move. Ashley/Kaidan being N7 ops I like though. Garrus was always supposed to be the SpecTRe bro. What is Mac up to? Nonetheless I'm interested enough to see where this will go (if it's true).

I've said this once and I'll say it again:

"Guys, it is the Official Playstation Magazine, they tend not to lie. And he didn't 'mistake' Sanders for the sniper guy, he actually never mentions that Sanders IS the sniper, he simply puts the picture of the sniper guy (I assume there wasn't really anything else to put other than a question mark), he never actually says it. And I do question the brief bio of some of the characters, but this tends to happen alot in game journalism.

There is a difference between speculation and outright quoting a source/fact."

Can people stop using the stupid picture as a reason to put down the entire magazine?! I've read the PSM for years, they do tend to speculate but the never claim their speculation to be TRUE. However, they don't lie either, they always say 'we think' or 'we assume'. They never said that Sander is the sniper, they just put up the picture.

I'm not saying whether he wants it or not.I'm just saying that he is the best person for that job in comparison with other teammates. Kaidan is too soft, and Ash is just...I don't know.

Garrus does whatever it takes to get the job done, and is very good in combat. His Renegade personality makes him a great candidate for Spectre.

They also did plenty of other shady things with their article, like clearly mixing "fact" and speculation on the same spread. PSM3's ME3 article was atrocious, and it doesn't matter how long you've been a fanboy--that's not relevant.

Garrus (regardless of paragon or renegade ver.) are more suited candidate for Spectre. I'm fine with Kaidan but Ashley...Really ? I don't have anything personal against this character, but she was like "blah blah blah Humanity first! blah blah blah Humanity on top! blah blah blah Alien are lesser!"

now how would you earn the Council's trust If she kept going with that superior attitude. Nevertheless I'm glad BioWare add something to these two.

that is a little irresponsible. usually when you place a picture and have a caption...one would think that the caption relates specifically to that picture...unless otherwise stated.
,
im not concerned with Sanders...just the Ash/Kaidan thing...but if the Sanders thing is purported, I can safely assume the Ash/Kaidan thing is too...until Bioware confirms the info.

I canť remember Ashley saying anything about aliens to be lesser. All I remember is that she was careful and suspicious to completely trust that aliens care about humanity, but it isn't same thing as supremacism.
Is she human patriot? Propably yes. Is she human supremacist? I don't think so....

In fact, she said explicitly "I don't think we're superior".

As for "Humanity first", well of course. Aren't there any Americans who say "America first"? That even was a presidential campaign slogan wasn't it?

Dude your making that stuff up. Ashley never says anything of the sort. Replay ME1 and this time pay attention to her dialouge.
