Yeah, that's true, magnuskn. There are probably a few people out there who were formerly fans of the company but will never buy from them again because their fish died.

I say bring it on.

I personally think there should be an achievment for keeping your fish alive.

Interesting. What else would you suggest is attractive then?

Looks like some sort of demon. Are you serious?

It still has human features. Godwood made it sound like if they even resemble humans he'll be mad. So I'm wondering what else can they reasonably look like so that they'll still be attractive?

Absolutely,  that is if we have to make them look sexy by human standards...  not some cthonic being being squeezed into fetish wear.

I would be happiest if it were something as alien as the Turians, but I'm not expecting that. Girls seem to have different limits when it comes to facial morphology, to the point that it surprises people. Man if I were still a psych student I would love to do a study on that.

I hope they are significantly more alien than the Asari. Cardassian-level, at the very least. Dudes totally dig Cardassians and Klingons, so it could work. Stop sharpening your murder knives!

Seriously though, debates like this are why I think they're so hesitant to show her. You can't please everyone! And so many people own knives!

I will also tell you a secret: there is a huge, huge temptation at a point like this to deploy the irony cannon. I don't think there's a chance that Bioware will actually do it, but I bet you that there are at least five artists at Bioware with beautifully rendered Tali-monster-faces sitting on their hard drives. There's no chance it would actually make it live, but I would be so curious to see the reaction of Tali fans if she was as alien as a Turian, but in that sort of sexy polished Turian way.

Ahem. Sorry... rambled a bit there. I hope everyone gets exactly what they want!

Nah its cool, I kinda agree, Tali should definately not look too human, but I'm not sure about the Turian thing, sure Quarians and Turians share that Dextro DNA thingumybob, but humans and apes share the same DNA and we aren't all covered head to foot in hair (Robin Williams notwithstanding).

Quarians are not guarenteed to look like Turians (skin type etc).  Its an option that the devs could take, sure, but its not the only option.

p.s. As you may have guessed, I'm a Tali fan, just not one of the rabid ones. lol

No no, don't worry, I understand the comedy jokes.

A full on shot from the irony cannon would give her a prawn or spider face, but I don't think that's fair. Hilarious, but not fair. And when I said "as alien as a Turian" I didn't mean resembling a Turian, necessarily. But turians don't have a normal humanoid facial configuration, with lips and a pointy nose and all that. I think people expect the turians to have fairly standard noses and mouths, from what I've seen anyway.

If we do go with a normal facial configuration, I do think there's something to be said for a mouth full of sharp teeth... so you think she looks normal but then when she smiles, you see the alien-ness... not ugly sharp teeth, mind, just predatory ones. Like the Girl Genius Jaggermonsters (They usually have less conventional skin colors and more dramatic teeth, but this will give you the general idea.)

At this point, really, let's face it - whatever happens in ME3, the nerdrage will be epic. If they don't show Tali's face, the people who wanted to see her will rage, if they do show her face, the people who didn't want to see her will rage, and those who don't like what they see will rage even more.

Me, I think it would be better if we never found out. I'm pretty sure the main reason why Tali is so popular is that people project all kinds of stuff into that helmet, and revealing her face could only ruin that. If ME3 does somehow have Quarians taking off their helmets, I just hope it's something that makes sense in the context of the story and not a moment where I'll end up feeling like the Talimancers came to my house and broke my game.

Ugh! Bad CGG! Bad!

No with the teeth!

That said, I've never been able to tell whether Tali's eyes glow because they're reflecting her HUD inside of her helmet, or if they just glow, and the eyes can be startlingly alien if done right even on a completely human face let alone on an alien species.  Imagine if her eyes had a strange metallic reflectiveness or something.  I'm sure others can come up with better ideas, but I hope you see what I'm getting at?

Man! I still like the teeth! I could have picked far, far more disturbing teeth, too. I had to LOOK to find attractive predator teeth! (And yes I understand the problem with them. I'm just choosing to ignore it, because I think the Jagerfrau look unbelievably badass. Also, they have the same accent as Tali. Shhhhhh.)

Ahem. That said, more normally shaped teeth in a strange color - like a dark metallic blue, might be interesting. And yes, the eyes can do a lot, but we already generally know the shape and position of the eyes, because they are the one thing clearly visible through the helmet, at times, so you can't make them too big or too weird or too oddly-shaped. Dudes have been seeing night elf eyes or X-men Storm eyes forever, nothing hugely unique there.

An interesting nose is also a possibility, something flatter and wider, for example. Not quite as flat as Turian or Salarian, but sort of cute and snubby.

But ignoring all those ideas and sticking with a more conventional face, someone on deviantart did the ME meme and made a Tali face I really like.

That's not bad, and you're the best for mentioning Girl Genius.

I've always liked the thought of Quarian faces being catlike. Flat noses, reflective eyes with slit pupils, patterned skin, sharp teeth. That would look intriguing and alien at the same time.

The only problem I have with that is that it's too Avatar-like. Now if we took that kind of facial structure and gave it some very delicate scales or a snakeskin effect, I think we might be onto something. A catlike face with delicate, jewel-like scales in purples, greens, and blues, that could be gorgeous. And the scales could have some interesting patterns with a lot of variations, like snakes.

I'd prefer to see a face (or faces) of other Quarians. That way my curiosity is sated, but Tali herself is still a "mystery" and (somewhat) up to the imagination of the player. Win/win scenario, in my books.

I think their would be more outrage over not seeing her face. They have been building up to it for 2 games now and since this is the conclusion it needs to be shown.

i don't particularly care as to whether or not tali's face is revealed, but we should be able at least to see what quarians look like under there. i mean, they've already made it quite clear that we'll never in mass effect see a female turian despite the species prevalence within the ME universe (nor a female krogan despite being on the home word, nor a female salarian). how (unsurprisingly) sloppy on bioware's part to leave another loose end like that out of a cheap attempt at mollifying the fan boys and fanning their fantasies by leaving her appearance vague and "up to the imagination" -- if it pans out like that, anyway.
