I would be happiest if it were something as alien as the Turians, but I'm not expecting that. Girls seem to have different limits when it comes to facial morphology, to the point that it surprises people. Man if I were still a psych student I would love to do a study on that.
I hope they are significantly more alien than the Asari. Cardassian-level, at the very least. Dudes totally dig Cardassians and Klingons, so it could work. Stop sharpening your murder knives!
I agree completely.
The Quarians as a whole are my favorite race in ME, at least culturally. (I find their suits visually pleasing as well.) However I find the Turians as the most aesthetically pleasing to me, as they are not just Humans wearing makeup like the Asari, or Batarians.
I want something Alien. I don't want space elves, I have seen more than enough anime, and have played more than enough warhammer 40k to get my fill of them. It just seems absolutely silly that in all the entire galaxy, that any aliens would look exactly like humans. Sure you have game dev reasons as for why, but come on this is the final game in the trilogy!
I also agree something like the Jaegers off of girl genius would be an acceptable compromise if they don't do something completely alien like the Turians. However I have to say, I don't really feel that the (Edit" Derp I meant quarians) were ever much of a predater species, if only because of their biology. They sounds (ironically enough) more symbiotic with their environe. It would be nice to be proven wrong though, to see that the Quarians are more dangerous than they look.

This would probably be best.
But lo behold such is foretold in the revelation of Tali's Face...
The Book of Mass Effect, Chapter 9, according to Bluko:
And Bioware didth decide to reveal Tali's Face to thou fans. Great riches and splendor where thought to be theirs. Yet the fans long loyal of Bioware had forgotten their name, and instead now held Tali as their god! While the true believers were pleased with this sight, a terrible rage descended upon those who now worshipped Tali. The imperfection of their God could not be tolerated. They, along with the ancient sect of fans angry at Bioware's banishment of their earlier idols from the third act; gathered in darkness. Their rage contained no more the legions of the spiteful descended upon the lands of Canada to do harm to the original creators. Those not taken by the madness did what they could to stop it, but in the end the Talimancers prevailed. Bioware was horribly and violently cast down. Forever lost to the realm of Earth at the hands of the Tali fans.
So horrible was the outcast of Bioware that all the world lived in fear of the Talimancers. Thus began the age of "Keelah Selai", an era in which man was ruled over by the cowled masks of Tali. Yet hope remained in the disciples of Garrus. Those who had not forgotten the old ways of calibration. In time they would prevail, freeing mankind from an age of over-abundant cutseyness.
I should go.

I always imagined that's how her death in the suicide missions should have been like.

I think this could be worth seconding. There isn't a person alive who's watched all of Deep Space Nine and hasn't felt at least a little bit tingly regarding Garak, so yeah.

For starters they have two eyes (possibly luminescent) of a similar size and shape of ours. They also have noses in the fashion that we do as can be seen under the helmet. Only questionable thing is what do their mouths look like? Though I believe Tali mentions "kissing", which likely implies they have mouths and lips. I doubt they really have beaks or anything like that.
That said the Quarians are dextro-amino acid based lifeforms like the Turians. More or less this would seem to indicate that perhaps Turians and Quarians are both avian like. Indeed Quarians and Turians share similar features in leg structure. So it's probably not entirely far-fetched to believe the Quarians might be slightly bird-like people. They again at the same time are remniscent of human as mammals. So it's possible maybe they are slightly feathered? Though it seems more likely they have hair given that females wear hoods in place of hair, and that males seem to have braids more or less. Although it's possible they may simply just be features of the suit.
But yeah if we do see a Quarian's face it'll probably draw stark constrasts to a sort of human ancient Egyptian-esque look. (Given that their design seems to already be partly inspired by such.) Also we can tell Quarians have slightly elongated and relatively more narrow skulls to boot. Also it's probably a fair guess that whatever skin tone Quarians have, they'll be very pale. Since it's been a century or two since a single Quarian has been exposed to sunlight.
Just my guess. Frankly I almost prefer the "Quarian Face" remain a mystery.

Well if we do see Tali's face, it's a pretty safe bet that it's going to be fairly human.
Ascension backs this up. Grayson finds a tortured quarian, and doesn't react as if he looks drastically different. They have lips, teeth, and both upper and lower eyelids. The only thing remarked on is that their ears are rather different from ours.

Whatchu talking bout ugly? Thane has made many a fangirl sweatier than a penguin in the goby. My girlfreind had made various uncomfortable comments about garrus, and I know at least one girl who finds batarians attractive.

Does the book describe the ears? I haven't read any of them and I'm curious as to how they are different.
Personally I always hoped that they would have some type of plumage like (or at least similar to) the Shi'ar in the Marvel Universe. Just to be different or interesting.
I actually like this version that someone came up with, http://browse.devian...q=Tali#/d2nayyf
It's not the best copy I've seen though. The original is huge and has an amazing amount of detail. It's floating around this forum someone but it's late right now and I don't have the energy to look...

No. It just says "what passed for the quarian version of an ear".

But, haven't the novels been somewhat off when it coems to describing various species? I remember reading something about hairy Batarians. (Haven't read novels, so only hearsay). Either way, its obvious from the video that they haven't come up with a final design yet.

Yes, some stuff from the first was changed. But so what? They're still canon until they're not, and the vast majority of details in them haven't been changed.

It all depends on the species in question, not just the gender? Also, even as a hetero male I can't exactly say that Garrus or Thane are ugly.Elite Midget wrote...

-Compound eyes
-Not-human lips, if any at all
-Obvious, but inhuman, ears.
-Batarian-esque nose (or, rather, no 'nose' at all)
-A mouth that opens sideways, not up and down.
