I've patched to 1.01, and I still have this problem.

At random times, I am unable to issue commands such as ESC(ape), J(ournal), M(ap) or any other keyboard command  except WASD to move.  I can't even click on an enemy to attack it.  Once this problem starts, it does not end until the game is exited.

Luckily I can F5 to force a save, and CTRL-ALT-DELETE to kill Dragon Age 2 from the Task Manager, so that I can restart and play again, otherwise, I am essentially stuck and unable to do basically anything in game.

This has happened to me 8 times today, playing on and off for about 4 hours.

Has anyone else had this problem.

I just had the problem happen again. I had just clicked on Merrill for a brief conversation. She told me that she wishes that she'd worn shoes with soles. Standard non-dialogue dialogue. After that, everything I tried to click on, triggered that conversation with Merrill.

Just finished freeing the Qunari mage. After he immolated himself, same problem. Had to force restart.

Hmm.  I just reassigned a hotkey.  I deleted Fireball from a hotkey, but put it back in.  Immediately after that, the ESC and all of the non WASD keys stopped working.

Perhaps that is the trigger...I doubt it though, actually, as it's happened under different circumstances.  Sorry, just thinking out loud.
