 I don't get it. How could they make Zevran look so damn perfectly beautiful in Origins, and destroy him in Dragon Age 2?

Please someone explain how this happened.

The people who modded the characters from Origins got lazy.
Alistair looks like he's fat and his hair mismatches while Zevran looks nothing like his old self.
I could do a better job given the character creator.

Zevran wasa loser whose throat I slit 2 seconds after I met him in DA1. He wa sugly then too. I never saw him in DA2, thankfully.

heh. Nah. I slept with the HOT Morrigan. I win. I'm not gay, but their were other male characters in DA1/DA2 thatb were cooler than Zevran. Zevran is a loser assassin who fails at his job.

He knew that he would fail agaisnt the Warden, and taking the job was a suicide attempt.  

You can't say he a loser and isn't cool if you know nothing about his personality and story. You said you just slit his throat, so you obviously have no further impression of him past that inital encounter. I wonder what made you hate him so much?

I commented on how Zevran was beautiful, and what a shame it was they messed him up so badly.

I agree that Zevran just changed far too much. His appearance just didn't work well with the new elven look. He went from having angular features to having a rounded face with no cheekbones, and his eyes are too small and too far apart.

My guess is they kept the original slider values for his face and just applied it to the new face morph system.

Edit: And I agree that Zevran was beautiful in DAO.  He's supposed to be incredibly good looking no matter what, so the DA2 weirdness that was his face was completely out of place.

Don't worry about the trolls. There are some people who see "Zevran" in a topic and feel the need to share that they cut his throat.  He really threatens a lot of people apparently.  I've read people saying they will not finish DA2 until his cameo is fixed and he no longer appears (I mean, they're taking this WAY too seriously).  Hah, imagine if Leliana haters felt that way!

I think the people who hate Zevran to that extent where they have to announce it whenever a thread addresses him are the ones who have lost focus that this is just a video game.

1. He tried to murder me. What's not to hate?

2. You assuming I only played DA1 once and therefore did not spare his life on further play throughs.

3. I know his full story. It's becasuse I know his full story that i find that he is a loser. the guy is more emo mthan Fenris and that says A LOT consideirng that Fenris is the embodiment of emoness. But, you can't get more emo than trying to commit suicide by another's hand. L0L

Ah ok then sorry! I think I misread/misinterpreted the part where are senseless argument was starting where both sides would try to defend their sides with bat**** reasoning and personal attacks leading ultimately to a flamewar over a videogame character.

They also seem to have issues regarding their putative sexual orientation. If you're secure in your sexuality, Zevran poses no threat.

Yet you're obsessed enough to feel the need to share what you did in this single player game and further more try to start a fight over it though it's unrelated to what the thread is really about. Give it a rest. Seriously, the thread is not about why you hate Zevran. We get that you do. It's not very interesting, but you made your point. It also has nothing to do with DA2.

The complaint about how some of the characters look under the new face morph system is something that is DA2 related.

Edit: My apologies to everyone else in this thread for responding, but gah, it gets SO annoying how people think the details of their DAO game are so important and relevant that they should derail threads that bring up unrelated issues about the character they hate.

Second edit: That so many people hate him to THIS obsessive extent is proof that he's a wonderfully written character!

He's an assassin, it's his job. You're likely to get over any of that intial hate once you get to know his character more.

[SPOILERS all below this point for anyone else reading this]
He was born an elf, with no father and a dead mother, raised by ****s. He was then sold, agaisnt his will, to a gang of assasains who tortured him and tried to turn him in into a cold blooded killer. He then spat on and slaughtered the only woman he ever had true feelings for, and then found out she was innocent.

His whole life is cruel and painful and YET... he manages to stay postive, happy, humourous, making the most of the situation he's in however bad it becomes. That's the OPPOSITE of emo.

And as for being a loser... he excelled in his field and because the best Antivian Crow there was, and had a vast array of lovers, which included his targets. I think he's a winner if there ever was one.

His suicide attempt was an act of pure passion, not emo whineyness. And you can't get more emo that trying to commit suicide by another's hand?

It's more emo to commit suicide at home with a bottle of brandy and a razor blade, than throw yourself in battle with a powerful adversary? Alright mate.

An awful lot DA2 comes across as sloppy or half done. I think the character imports generally fall into that category. Zevran is an especially egregious example, but Alistair and Nathaniel didn't get a lot of import love either.

Zevran in DAO was exceptionally good looking - that's a fact. I do wonder if the hate is *doth protest too much* homophobia or just jealously... which is weird, we can't all look as good as a pixelated hawt elf.

In DA2 they did not capture him at all which was disappointing.

@Volourn, maybe it's because you fancy Zev more than Anders and Fenris that gets you so riled up??

All the DAO companions were suppoesd to be amazing looking with the exceptions perhaps of Oghren and Sten and of course Shale -- Zevran even comments on it.

Everything said about the way Zevran, Leliana, Alistair, Wynne, Morrigan and the Warden look, by outsiders and by the companions themselves reinforces that they're all supposed to be beautiful. Zevran in DA2 most definitely is not. Alistair looks past his prime (which he really shouldn't -- most men start to get sexier when they hit their late 20s) but not mutated.
