Dragon age origins would've won 11 oscars if it were a film, while Dragon Age 2 would probably win the equivalent of 11 razzies. :D

I am not killing you guys but just saying you could kill yourself. As in if you chose the US ending it is nothing like 'Return of the king'. Alternatively send Alistair away or get him killed. If you choose the 'Return of the King' ending you are hardly in a position to complain about it.

Who's complaining ?

I completed multiple times with Alistair as king,  The mute Warden sacrificing himself,  Loghain becoming a Warden and getting redeemed etc.

In each of the ending the arch-demon in slain and the tower blows up,  just like Return of the King.

I half expected "Directed by Peter Jackson" in the credits B).

I'm not saying that DA2 ending blew my mind but the Meredith fight was much more fun that the end game fight of DA:O.

Doesn't in most action oriented stories/movies something big blow up in the end? And the evil guy dies. That's kinda the point. I mean what would be the alternative? The bad guys win? Everyone hugs and be friends?

I belive it's just an open ending leaving it open for an expansion or da3

What ending? The story didn't end, it just stopped. They might as well have slapped a "To be continued..." at the end.

I'm sure there will probably be a major add on similar to DA:A, which will be DA2's true sequel while DA3 (should it ever come out) will feature a whole new hero and storyline. I admit that DA:O's Star Wars-style ending was a nice touch, but I was bummed to find out that many of the epilogues were never meant to be cannon and that Bioware would go on to admit that they are under no obligation to remain true to them.

Although the ending of DA2 could never be as "happy" as DA:O, perhaps a scene of Hawke going on the run with or without his/her LI would have been would have been more fulfilling, though I still see DA fans filling up these forums with complaints.

I understand what they were trying to DO with the ending, since both the warden and Hawke disappear with the only real connection being the two is a certain Witch of the Wilds and this will obviously continue on into DA3. (So yeah, you may as well just slap a huge 'TO BE CONTINUED' label on it)

But the sad thing is that it didn't work, especially since it was such a large JUMP from how ending with traditionally done in Origins and Awakening, when it explained what the effects of all your choices were, which I just ADORED in DA:O.

It was certainly a cliffhanger. But I really missed the traditional endings of the previous games. (DA:O, DA: Awakening) They could at least include this type of endings. There must be follow up to this ending, because otherwise it wouldn´t make any sense. Just "disappeared", isn´t exactly logical.
I watched some other videos of fans were they were complaining about the ending.

there had to be a cliff for there to be a cliffhanger this story is so non existant its more like an intermission when you'd go get more popcorn at the movies certianly you'd miss the commercials but who wanted to see them anyway.

I was more confused than upset at the ending. It made me feel dumb. Like, "what the hell just happened??"

Putting aside for a moment the fact that Fantasy films very, very rarely win Oscars (best make up or best SFX are pretty much the only categories they'll even be nominated for), Origins is a) not very original, B) not very well acted and c) not pleasant to look at.

Games do not transition well to film at the best of times, but Origins would be an especially bad choice. DA2 is much more workable for a number of reasons.

The game is kind of a BAM its all ****ing over. **** happens. I think they pulled a Mass Effect 2 on this game, cause that game is also not saitisfying in the end.

I think neither game would make a remotely good movie transition, but that doesn't matter. Even a mediocre story can be more immersive and moving when you live it. For one thing, the things that come across as sentimental in a movie don't feel like that when you're doing them. The problem is that DA2's world is muddled and uninspired. Its villains are uninteresting, not remotely scary and their behaviour doesn't make any sense.

I for one didn't mind the ending too much, just that I didn't know what happened after. I mean, I kinda' understand seeing as the smaller choices you made concluded within the ten years, but things like if you give Varric the idol to save his brother, etc. I guess I'm referring to companions more. I don't even have to know where they ended up in the end, but just what they did directly after everything. Also, a scene with Hawke on the run with(out) an LI, and then possibly a cliffhanger of some sort. I'm not really complaining, though. While I'd prefer something like this, I didn't mind the way things ended. And with Leliana appearing and the Warden mentioned... It was more than enough to get me excited for the next game. (I went in blind for the most part, so that came as a shocker for me.)

I don't mind Hawke and the mage/templar/chantry war being open ended. I'd rather that than the epilogue being contradicted in DA3. Angel's "I'm going to slay a dragon." fade to black remains one of my favourite endings and JKR's Harry Potter one my most hated. Not everything needs to be spelled out I have a good imagination and I like using it.

I wish there had been slides for the minor decision we could influence though. Did the dream mage learn to control his power or finally become an abomination? How did that new ship work out for Isabela? What happened with Camlen and Charade? etc.
