not only. the stuff that happened off-screen got him selected to be evaluated for spectre position/training.  stuff happened to expedite the proper procedures.




More precisely, pre-service history.

I never liked Udina, but didn't know he was on the payroll for the all human group. Even I read the leak and am wondering why this happened. Fellow forum poster, do the words political ****storm mean anything to you?

Only problem i got with this rumour is spectres are supposed to be a rare breed now it seems like there handing out sprectre liscenses with boxes of cereal

Nothing that the VS couldn't have done. Some of which the VS was along for and doing too.



i had a great post somewhere on this board addressing this...but as it has been over 9 months..i dont recall where.

BUT..... Ash and Kaidan would either be dead or eating mud if Shep didnt come along. Could they have done it in Shep's sted (during the events of ME1)? Nope...per their character's development in ME1. Could it have happened between ME1 and ME2...maybe...but highly unlikely...cuz it would have been explained...and to make it so at the beginning of ME3 WITHOUT an proper explanation would BE CHEAP.

to receive a position based on association is not befitting an individual with any kind of honor. VS are written to have a sense of honor. I highly doubt..as i said before...they would have used some pseudo-nepotism dealybob Hey Im Shep's pal thing here!!

On their own merit!!

but i am down for a ploy OR appointment with explanation later in the story

I've noticed in some screenshots/concept art, Kaidan/Ashley are wearing the Spectre insignia, and in others they aren't, and I've come up with a theory:

It's all dependant on whether or not you regained your Spectre status in ME2 - if you did, you're still the Alliance's very own human representative among the Spectres. If you didn't, whoever survived Virmire has been given the job in your (...or rather, Shepard's) stead.


Rampant speculation on my part, of course, but you get the idea. ;)

This really isn't a spoiler. It's been common knowledge.

I've got this hypothesis that due to alleged actions in the Batarian system that Shepard gets once again stripped of Spectre status and is replaced by the VS. Anderson reinstates Shepard's rank. This is not going to sit well with Shepard, and expect a fight aboard the Normandy. Spectre status won't matter in this war. It is symbolic at best. This is Shepard's ship. Ashley better stay in line before I have Liara beat her with her with her own spine, or she can leave at the nearest spaceport. That should earn some renegade points.

He can't reinstate his Spectre status unless he was on the council, which my Anderson was.  The Earth Demo doesn't really make sense considering all the decesion I've made in Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2.

seems to me like a retcon of sorts.
like they thought it would be cool for VS to be a spectre but it didn't fit in with their character from ME2 but they just did it anyway.
