I feel sorry for the horse. Sure it's dead, but it's still disgusting. How would you guys feel if you were the spirit of a dead horse and people kept beating you? Answer that honestly. It is sickening.

Indeed. I've said it before as well.

same old topic is same old.

Well if I was a Spirit that'd be pretty cool. I could like haunt people, mess with stuff, etc. And if they messed with my body I'd just follow them home and mess with their lights in the evening. I don't think I'd be real concerned over my body, unless I was really dead set on being a Lich.

You know, even if ME2 winds up being "pointless," it's still one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've ever had.

Would, perchance, the point of ME2 have been to be a fun game?

Really, though, people are just disappointed that they didn't beat the Reapers. 'Oh, I stopped something the Reapers wanted to do, but so what?' So what so what? What did beating Sovereign matter, if it didn't lock out the Reapers from the galaxy?

It stopped the imminent extinction of the council races
it should have given enough time to develop technology to beat the Reapers
And It did lock the Reapers out they have to take the "scenic" Route
Also the important moral boost that a Reaper ist not immortal
These are Effects of Sovereign's Destructions

As long as Conrad Verner rides in to save the day at the appropriate moment (turns out him being an incompetent boob was an elaborate ruse) I'm good.

I have to agree. Conrad is one of my favorite characters.

LOTSB and Arrival already made ME2 pointless, ME3 is just putting the final bullet in the head

Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed with the way ME2 went. It seemed like a side quest to me - but maybe ME3 will change my mind. I will love it if the squad from ME2 are all back.

Ok, I thought in Mass Effect 1 the characters were a great stepping stone, They were pretty good, and had lots of room to expand. Then ME2 comes out and says the teams split up. Err, ok then that kinda sucks but fear not! The reason behind it is you need to build a team of the best of the best. This isn't just a crew anymore, it's a team! And because of that there was basically no core story progression in ME2 it was all character based. Well, fine you got your elite team. But now...the elite team has split up AGAIN? Why? I can understand wanting new characters but why make an entire game about forming a team, without the core story around it, and split it up in the next game? I mean basically, ME2 was pointless, everything you did in that game will have no big effect, aside from the save import stuff which won't change the game too much.

Who were the best characters in ME2? Garrus and Tali, who were the only character who followed into ME2 from the original? Garrus and Tali.

Am I the only one who finds this odd?

Person: Man, ME1 had some cool characters.

Bioware: Damn right!

Person: So we'll be using them in ME2?

Bioware: Umm, not really, you've all split up.

Person: Oh...

Bioware: But it's ok! Because we're making the BEST team ever of the best characters we can muster! In fact this team is so important the entire game is dedicated to it, the core story is barely present!

Person: Wow! Really? So THAT team we'll be using for later games, I get it now. Yeah, build the team, use them in ME3 for the core story.

Bioware: Well, no, that team broke up too.

Person: Then WTF was Mass Effect 2 about?

I KNOW RIGHT!!!

We had the best team in the galaxy, an amazing sentient warship, and a massive invasion of evil looming. We have the tools, we have the talent. Let's fight it.

But nooooo, we have to rebuild a team AGAIN. They claim it's for the newcomers to the series, but I happen to think BioWare cannot tell a story that doesn't involve building a team. They're cowards.

My guess is that certain team members will be available for some, but not ALL of the missions, and that many of your friends will have command with their particular races and service branches. Tali, whether or not she is your main squeeze, will be an admiral in the Quarian fleet for instance. Earning her loyalty could make enlisting the Migrant Fleet a whole lot easier. The same could be said of the Krogan with Wrex or the Rachni with the Queen.

If you have friends in high places, you'll probably do missions to help your friends out. If you don't, there will probably be missions where you somehow take command of certain groups like the Rachni, the Krogan or the Geth.

Of course, that's my guess. I could wind up being completely wrong. After all, I was hoping that Harbinger wouldn't be wasting my time in ME3, but it looks like I was wrong. I guess I better start writing up a scathing forum where I accuse Bioware of selling out to EA and turning it's back on all the fans.

Ok Mass Effect 2 wasnt pointless the only reason u dont have your full other team is cos either Ashley died or Kaiden died and which ever 1 didnt die hated you anyway. And the rest have gone off 2 do there own little this. Mass Effect 2 did hav a core story line if it didnt you would have made a team than that would be the end of the game.

You defeated the collectors, agents for the reapers.

I fail to see how any of that is irrelevant. Had they not stopped the collectors, Humanity would have been crippled.

But of course the moment team members decide that they have successfully defeated the collectors (which they were recruited to do) and leave for better things, the fans go up in flames.

People these days.

I think the reason people complain about the team breaking up is that, despite all the complaints and cries of "ME2 was pointless!", they really did connect with the team members (especially if they all survived the SM) and they wanted to keep the team together.

They made them killable. That's a huge hint that they all might not return outside of fan favorites that are forced down their throats.

Also, didn't you get the memo?

Mass Effect is the Story of Shepard, Garrus, and Tali. Everyone else is just 'there'.

Yeah, losing a few colonies out in the Terminus sure would cripple humanity and its 12 billion+ population back on Earth. And man, those Collectors sure are scary with their one cruiser! I bet it would take them all of five minutes to die a horrible death after coming out of the Arcturus relay and encountering the Systems Alliance Fifth Fleet.

Its bull sh*t that the same game idea from ME 2 is used in 3 and we need to rebuild a team Oh thats right part of team is ME 1 fan serviced locked in already , Ashley and Kaiden as well Garrus and Tali and wrex will all be on the squad. Becuase lets be honest bioware will cater to the ME 1 fans . hell even the GI articlw basically mentions the entire ME 1 crew being in the game . No F**king mention of ME 2 crew beside legion

You put the team together to stop the collectors,  that was it,  nothing more.

Let's think about this...

-Jack and Miranda hate each other.
-The black guy(Jacob?) hates the assassin.
-Tali hates Miranda and Jacob.
-Samara is a Justicar and by default hates the assassin,  Miranda,  Jacob,  and Jack because they're all evil doers.
-Grunt is a Krogan and will want to return to his clan.
The Doctor was only there because there was something interesting to research.

Why exactly would these people stay together?  It's a miracle they managed to make it through the whole game,  they're *not* going to stay together afterwards.  Expecting them to stay together is just being unrealistic.

They make the revelation quite clear during the derelict ship mission that the ship has the capacity to hold enough humans to make Earth a viable target, as Shepard tells EDI.

Collectors finish off the Terminus colonies -> push deep and eventually collect the desired amount of humans neccessary to complete that Human Reaper. Human Reaper and Collectors strike Earth. The anti-seeker swarm technology is never developed because as you so adeptly imply, the second game is meaningless. Humans are stolen without a single casualty for the Collectors.

Pieces, fit them together.

ME2 did the same thing ME1 did. Build your team and meet new faces. ME3 will take things from both ME1 and ME2 to make the best Team Building Experience ever!

Outside Garrus and Tali who will be returning 'AGAIN' when no one else from the last game seems to be.

What do you mean?  They've already pretty much said if people are alive, they will appear in some fashion.  And Tali has not been confirmed as a squaddie in ME3 yet.

Problem with Tali being an Admiral. She never had military experience, and outright stated that getting the role isn't hereditary. If she couldn't control a squad of idiot Quarian marines, how the hell do you expect her to manage a fleet of 17 million people? It's as stupid as expecting Chelsea Clinton to become President of America just because her dad was a President.
