ITT: people conveniently forgetting that this promotion is also affecting Crysis 2, Sims Medieval, Shift 2, Bulletstorm, etc etc

ITT: people forgetting that this is DA2 board. I never said that the offer was ONLY for DA2.

Well you could have made it clear it was for a ton of games though.

But well, what can you expect from this board.

lol from the looks of it - every title you mentioned seems to be doing horrible. DA 2 has the most 'sales' according to the vgcharts. How sad is that?

No wonder those titles are also being discounted. They need to boost sales for all those games.

lol@EA for dropping the price of the game 20 bucks this early (and including ME2 for free to boot).

Yet they claim its selling "better" than Origins. Somehow I kinda doubt that since Origins outsold ME2.

They're giving a 50% discount on EVERY SINGLE GAME in the store. Get a grip.

Nah see - they said it got to a million faster I think. Which is true but only because of the 400k pre-orders. DA: O will have far more sales in the long run (won't be close - it will be DA: O by a mile.)

Uhh no they aren't.  It's PC-Digital only. the Majority of their games do not do well on the PC.

Here's a fun fact: As a general rule - it would seem like a smart idea not to do a promo of 33% for  games that sell WELL (Lets see this being done for the 360/PS3 right now). You only do those kind of sales for slumping sales and in this case the PC arena is doing horribly.

Edit: As an example lets see them do a 33% promo on Madden 12'

Yeah I get the impression a lot of people aren't aware of it for some reason.

Better that way to, lest we start getting "Valve sold their soul to the EA devil" topics.

Or on holidays. Like Christmas. Perhaps on April Fool's. Too bad nothing like that this weekend. But wait.... Image IPB

The only thing the EA store sells are PC digital downloads. It's not a retailer.

Almost every game released by EA is put on sale shortly afterward, holiday or not. Dead Space 2 was put on sale for 20$ or something immediately after it launched. Though this logic is thrown aside when it gives people an opportunity to insult DA2.

That's why I said as a general rule and - usually you don't do it for 33%. That's a huge loss.

Rest assure they are making MONEY some way on the game.

I'm not sure why they'd put it on sale for 20 bucks though. It wouldn't make sense if it was selling 2-1 to the first game.

Okay i found it - it started off at 60 bucks - then moved down to 40.

I remember it was discounted for a day or two because it was the very same day I had just went out and got it full price shortly after launch, I wasn't amused (look at my display pic, that's how I looked like) but c'est la vie. Don't ask me the reasoning why but they usually do this.

Odd, guess it's a regional thing then. Are the 360 games retail or digital download?

Ahh thank you for informing me of that. Okay fine - the EA store is a the 'PC downloadable portion' and in that regard they are selling everything at a discounted 33% promo price. However, with that said -  I still maintain the idea that their PC games are selling horribly which in turn led to the 33% discount price.

Retail, there's barely any digital download games available for 360. You can order DS / PS3 / PC / ect to be delivered.

Not if you increase the volume of sales. Better a sale at 66% than not having one at 100%. Reason why rates for most merchandise can be found at discounted prices for a variety of reasons.

As for me, this pre-order was my own Christmas present, and is my first Collectors ed, AFAIK. While I would have liked a lower price, I also do not have to download the game; related time and tech related headaches eliminated.

I see. That service is probably only available in the USA/Canada I'd bet.

Either way, this is getting kinda offtopic. The point still stands that if they're just giving a 50% discount on all PC digital downloads, that's hardly relevant to DA2's success or lack thereof.

Guess it's settled, then. EA now knows DA2 was a complete and utter failure. EA really is getting pathetic.
