In my view it means changing a story for no logical reason . Such as Jack why does she need to be softend for ME 3.

Well, then you're using it wrong.  That's not what it means.  It's a retroactive alteration of continuity.  If ME3 says Jack always had a softer personality and never behaved the way she did in ME2, that'd be a retcon.  Jack developing one as a result of her experiences or just the passage of time is not.  They can still execute the latter poorly, but that wouldn't make it a retcon.  It'd just be a failed attempt at character development.

Yes,  I know he grows up in the end and decides to live normally.  I really chose a stupid character to refrence.  I enjoyed a cold as ice and violent female character...

Ok, yes now you're onto something here. There's nothing like the removal of charm, addition of mild psychotic rantings and an occasional demon posession to make for some rotten character development. 

They ruined a perfectly fine character there, din't they?

Honestly, I expect she'll just get some more clothes and won't be quite so reckless, but she'll still be plenty mouthy and aggressive in a fight.  And she might be willing to display a bit more camaraderie, not unlike that final cutscene where Shep surveys the surviving crew. They might add some hair, but I highly doubt it'd be long flowing locks or anything like that.

Not sure how seriously that article can be taken. It lists James Sanders under a picture of the guy from the trailer, even though BW confirmed that it is not him.

The difference is, that's a quote directly attributed to Derek Watts.  It's one thing to be a bit sloppy about speculation, but misquoting someone is taken much more seriously.

I doubt Jacob will be gone from the game.  Jacob Femshep and Kaiden love triangle is the flip side of the Ashley Shepaloo and Miranda love triangle.  It would suck for the Femsheps to not have that play out.

Agreed.  Fans of the game will still be fans of the game.  They got some characters you love and some characters you hate and that will be different for everybody.  That just adds personality to the entire series, really.  I'd rather have it that way then for them to give us a bunch of bland, middle of the road characters by trying to please everybody with every character.

everyones freaking out because theres talks of a slight redesign. if you guys have so little faith that bioware wont compromise the originality and aesthetic of the character, maybe you should rethink their past decisions with sequels. they only made tali and garrus better when they came back. granted they completely excluded ashley and kaidan, though that can be justified. anyway, have some trust in the writers directors etc. that bioware will keep us peachy keen with jack, as well as any other returning characters.

oh and sorry for the long rant.

Tell this to Liara fans before the character got fixed in Lair of the Shadow Broker. 

Actually, that sentence makes no sense. But I'm positive Liara fans would take umbrage with your logic here. Liara was seriously screwed up before LOTSB un****ed all the damage done to her character in ME2.

Garrus and Tali did not change in a way the conflicted with their character. They still had a similar style to what they had in the first game.
