What about Ashley? I was never crazy about her, but her redesign is a completely different character. She doesn't even have the same face.

That is something that has me scratching my head in confusion, because the time between Horizon and ME3 isn't years but a matter of maybe a month or two, so how will they explain the sudden change in appearance for Ash from when you just saw her?

If Bioware were to June Cleaver-ise Jack with the 'softer side I'd be pissed, but it's not out of line for Jack to actually not be a complete psychotic B**** and have found either some happiness (LI) or just someone who's an actual friend. With either way just taking some of the harder edge off of her while keeping Jack still....Jack.

Ok, it's pretty clear a lot of people don't know either how damaged people respond to help or bonding or how f*cked Jack really is. Odds are if you connected with someone like Jack and made an impact on her, odds are she'd change her attitude towards you, but changing her perspective of other people and the universe at large is not gonna happen over 6 to 8 weeks. If we're considering a real character progression, it would take longer, or her attitude towards others would be so slight it would barely be called an improvement by "well adjusted" people.

Still, I'd rather they keep it close to home.

My guess is that Jack's haters are either egocentric, were bullied as kids, or both.

That's the only reason I can imagine for them to wish death upon someone who calls them a naughty word.

That's the thing visualization is important, especially in fiction of any kind. Everything about a character's appearance is supposed to mirror and project their personality, their circumstances and events that affect them directly. Jack being herself and not looking the part without a reason in her personality makes no sense, and the character from the last game wouldn't change her appearance or attire because of one guy she's still on the fence about.

Ash is my favorite character after Miranda, so I'll say that you might be exaggerating a little bit...I mean come on, completely different character? I instantly recognized it was Ash when I saw her.

Just because her hair is down doesn't take anything away from her. Actually it's the opposite, I've been waiting since ME1 for her to do that! Finally

There are definitely a lot of people playing RPGs for the ability to indulge in power fantasies. Many post on the BSN. You can always spot them making statements like "I hate this character, and if they try to contradict MY decisions on MY ship I will force my gun down their throat and pull the trigger, painting the walls of the Normandy with their blood."

It's disturbing, but then again, most people are secretly pretty messed up.

It's simple it didn't look like her face from the past two games. It appeared completely different, not because her hair is down and in a different color, its because it looked like a different face.

@ marshalleck. If that were true, my dance card would be twice as full.

Looked the same to me. Just some subtle differences, lips looked a little fuller/more pink. Eyes looked...ehh, "dreamier"? She looked prettier imo

Garrus and Tali did not change in a way the conflicted with their character. They still had a similar style to what they had in the first game.

If I remember correctly, the original term devs used to describe Tali's new appearance was "more mature" and "older". They seem to be using the same words to describe Jack. 

Oh, and for the record, we haven't seen Jack yet, so everyone should stop stressing out over her appearance.

Well, maybe they should stop stressing out, but they should keep posting their preference for the character. It will be too late to give feedback once Bioware has already selected and implemented a new design for her.

Ash doesn't look that different to me. When I looked at her face, I recognized her instantly.

Well yeah. it still seemed like her and fit with character progression. So not "changing a character's look to broaden her fan base". I agree it’s too early to be jumping the gun. We don't know how it will be handled. I'm just hoping they don't do a complete 180 with her personality or change her appearance just to appeal to a wider audience. Character development is good but they should still keep it Jack and have it make sense for the time frame. It's ok to express concerns and state your preferance. Just don't rage out because of it.

Of course. Keep in mind, people, that part of the reason some members will be returning as squadmates is because of fan popularity. I doubt we'll see Jack running around in a short yellow sundress, with long flowing red hair (even though I think that sounds kool for a casual suit). She'll stay iconic, don't worry. Say what you will, but Bioware knows these characters better than even us.

everyones freaking out because theres talks of a slight redesign. if you guys have so little faith that bioware wont compromise the originality and aesthetic of the character, maybe you should rethink their past decisions with sequels. they only made tali and garrus better when they came back. granted they completely excluded ashley and kaidan, though that can be justified. anyway, have some trust in the writers directors etc. that bioware will keep us peachy keen with jack, as well as any other returning characters.

Actually, that sentence makes no sense. But I'm positive Liara fans would take umbrage with your logic here. Liara was seriously screwed up before LOTSB un****ed all the damage done to her character in ME2.

i actually hated liara before ME2. to me she seemed weak willed, kinda unsure of herself. in ME2 she gained confidence.

 I really wanna see a full Jack in ME3, not only a few appeareances from her part. I just hope they will keep the haircut but remove tattoos. They should make her a little smoother, but still wild.  She is my fav character, period.
