Alright so with the general feedback on DA2, will any of you be looking forward to DA3? Explain why.

I don't look forward to DA3, but if by a miracle BioWare fixes DA for DA3 I'm on again.

But I'm not hopeful.

I'm not looking forward to it, and I for sure won't be pre-ordering.

I'll check some reviews and videos when it comes out and decide whether or not I'll play it. But if I read any interviews or reviews before it comes out that say Dragon Age is continuing down the path set by DA2. It's a no buy.

I am not looking forward to a DA3 game for the simple reason that DA2 is not complete, we bought a game that is incomplete so i am waiting for Bioware to fix the plot holes for free so the game will stand on it's own.

If DA2 is not fixed so its a complete game then i have no more interest in any new DA games.

The problem for me with this is that the DLC better be of the Lair of the Shadow Broker quality for me to get it, but then given how poor the base game is in DA2 I don't see that happening.

It seems all the great series games have pathetic sequels for some reason, the Resistance series had a great first game but the sequel wasn't as good as the first but the third seems even better then the first. I'm hoping that DA3 will follow this pattern.

Many don't, not even from BioWare.

Just take the two sequels they did prior to DA2.
BG2
ME2

EDIT: you could add a ton more to the list if you look outside BioWare.

Some other favorites, old and new.
Battlefield 2.
Fallout 2
Jagged Alliance 2
Dune 2
Half-Life 2
Portal 2
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Civilization II
Diablo 2
Team Fortress 2
Freespace 2
System Shock 2
Thief II: The Metal Age
Silent Hill 2

& there is more.

I'd treat DA3 the same was as I am Skyrim after the abysmal Oblivion, hopeful but sceptical
at least DA has the advantage that DA2 was a decent game, just not good enough

Regardless of my opinion of DA2 I don't really look forward to unannounced games.

I dont see the point of so many threads about DA3...DA2 just came out. Im prolly wrong but Kirkwall was the top of the iceberg. No way they ll let us move to DA3 before exploring Free marches.

Oblivion is okay if you ignore the main quest and mod the hell out of it. The nice thing about having the developer release modding tools and generally support and encourage modding is that the community will generally fix most shortcomings.

It seems like they are holding out on a toolkit for this game until they have milked the DLC cashcow, but we'll see I suppose.

I'm an optimist when it comes to video games. DA2 was good, but certain features needed polishing or overhaul. I'm looking forward to DA3 expanding upon the good while bringing back certain features from Origins. Not very excited about the multiplayer rumor however.

Since toolkits/toolsets extend the shelf life and active userbase of a game, releasing them improves DLC profitability by providing more potential customers.

Put another way:  If you've stopped playing a game because its content is static, you're less likely to buy DLC than someone who has continued to get enjoyment out of a game that's still actively in your rotation.

Obsidian would never release a game that could have benefited 6 more months of work.  It would be totally out of character for them.

I think that statement is perhaps more true than you intended it to be.

Or perhaps I'm underestimating you, and it's precisely as true as you intended it to be. In which case, whoah. Meta, dude.

What she said, plus I'll make sure to read the metacritic user reviews a month after the game is released.

Till about a month before release I was not even aware of DA2.

The same with The Witcher2.

I am the kind of person that is not looking forward to any release or counting days. Not trying to sound presumptuous, it's just me I am always very skeptical regarding games. They are very much like movies, just because you enjoyed one, it does not mean you will enjoy the next.

Also very cautious concerning reviews, hearsay before releases, they tend to be eskewed. Then, recent titles seem to be just more of the same (Total War yay, and COD, BFetc...), or dumbed down versions of same(compare Elder Scrolls1 with Oblivion, Fallout 2 with 3).

So overall, not looking forward, or placing high expectations towards it, when it comes it comes, and then we'll see.

If it never materializes, life goes on. At rate games are evolving, or devolving, I might just have to find a new hobby to keep my mind busy, anyway, hah.

I'll be looking forward to DA3. It's win-win. Either they produce a good game and I enjoy it, or they drop the ball and I can watch the primal scream therapy on the Bioware boards.

I haven't really played Mass Effect, but didn't the exact same thing happen with ME2 that happened with DA2?

ME- Good RPG
ME2 - Lost a lot of RPG elements
ME3 - according to latest Game Informer issue, is bringing back RPG elements while keeping a lot of things ME2 had

DA:O - Good RPG
DA2 - Lost a lot of RPG elements
DA3 - With the devs looking at our feedback and constructive criticism, I predict DA3 will be a huge success.

Honestly I'm looking forward to DA3.
