I was. Act III definitely was too short. It also didn't seem to flow like act I and act II.

I agree... Act III was definitely the weakest section of the game.

And I agree with the OP that the gameplay rocked. In Origins, I hated the Deep Roads. I hated the endless boring combat. But, once combat was fun, I found myself wishing the dungeons were longer.

I honestly wasn't disappointed by the length. It was still a very lengthy game for me. Shorter than Origins yes, but still of good length.

And yes, the gameplay TOTALLY rocks.

I wasn't disappointed.  At 30 long hard hours the game was just the right size and managed to hit my sweet spot. What it lacked in length it made up for in depth while still being wide, thick and meaty.  And as soon as the climax of one playthrough has hit I'm ready to go again and again.  What more could a girl ask for?

Length certainly varies depending on the individual. I spent over 30 hours (close to 40) on act 1 alone. My whole playthrough was between 60-70 hours. There are always many variables in there.

I never understood the obsession with game length. Some of my favorite games aren't that long, but they provide such a fun and awesome experience that I am perfectly fine with paying full price for them (e.g. Portal, Uncharted 2, etc.).

I can't read this without laughing. I'm 99% certain that you could not possibly have worded that more innocuously, but it still reeks of innuendo

For me the length is just right for the game to be nicely replayable. In origins when I wanted to start anew I often suddenly felt lazy to play again when I remembered how long all together it will be.

I should be glad that I didn't mention that some games can be painfully long then, shouldn't I?

I'm also beginning to think that anything I write will reek of innuendo...

While I think that, in this instance, the fault lies with the direction of the thread prior to your arrival, it's probably true that nothing you say will ever again be as innocent as it was when your chemistry teacher was spouting obscenely dorky puns.

I could've tolerated the length if it had replay value. as it is, being both shorter than it's predecessor and less replayable is a huge mark against the game

RPG requires some certain amount of time. ACT 1 and act 2 are basicly a growing in power, and then act 3 should be having fun with it. And here the time when you can use the power is shortest, i would like it to be as long as act 1 and 2 combined. Also plot wise its very poor.

But its not what i hate - i hate the brainless of the game - you dont need to read dialogues , think what to answer - random select and go further. And if you want to go a given path - good one always pick upper right ... You cant pick wrong - even when escaping lothering you can say you dont want her help but the game will still force you to do it. Old days you would get a zerg of darkspawn to teach your ass picking whats good for you ><
Did anyone seen a riddle here?

i completely agree. first off the plot was kinda weak. there was no main goal in the end. for example, in Origins the overall goal was to defeat the blight. and we had fun doing it with the many different sub-plots. now it just seemed like 3 different plots and no clear ending. as far as the length of the game goes, Att3r0 is dead on. the first 2 acts were just right. and the flow was ok. i mean weve worked up to where we are finally and its nice. and 2 hours later, the game ends. i finished the game in about 40 hours, and id say i probably completed 85% of the all the quests. it seemed like i was just starting to enjoy myself thoroughly with all my new gear and such and then it just ended.

on a side note, did anyone wish there were more places to visit than JUST Kirkwall and Sundermount? maybe other cities in the free marches at least? that was somethin i very much enjoyed about origins, was all the different scenery and places to visit and people to talk to.

If I were Bioware, I would be heartbroken every time people say the length was ”just right”.

Those people don’t even like the game enough to want more of it!!

We who complain that it’s too short may be a pain in the ***, but at least we want more of DA2 because we like it so much.

I'm totally agree, I thought it was about to begin where it ended. I like the game a lot and still heaving fun with it, but there are two issues that IMO this game never will be the same as DAO, Game length and recycled maps.

I wish act 3 was longer, it does feel rushed and you don't get to play in your champion armour very long.

I think the length was good. My 5 DAII playthroughs took 35-40 hours each, my longest Origins playthrough took 55 . But that was my first one, and i didn't understand the game at all, later runs took 45-50. So yes, it is shorter, but not that much. With the faster (may i say improved) combat, that was predictable. Not the only factor, but it plays it's part.
I even thought act 3's length was ok. It was a little shorter than the other two, one or two more main quests would have been nice, all in all it takes me 9-10 hours. But i think that's complaining on a high level. The game is very replayable to me, so i'm happy.

I've always believed, in terms of games, the longer the better! I loved that it usually took me 60-80hrs to finished DAO, and while I love DA2 I was a little dissapointed that it was, roughly, only half as long as DAO....I do hope Bioware will make DA3 longer, around DAO length :-).

part 3 should been way longer. you reach personal heights, but the conflict around you overshadows all the accomplished personal values. that could have been such a cool driver. loved the 60-80 hours of DA:O. could do with less, but act3 is way too short. additionally upon entering act3 the lovely merril will suddenly start babbeling about "do you also feel that something is ending" whcih is surely funny, but broke my suspension even in the first playthrough as i took it as a (valid) warning. :-)
also half the time of ac3 you spend to get your champion armor. nice driver as well. but when you finally have it the game basically ends. brilliant ;)

gameplay and combat pacing wise i hated the changes first but eventually started to love them. (not before dropping a 3/10 rating at metacritics which i still regret.. ) besides the reuse of areas the overall emptyness, and not enough "world" around, there is little i  dont enjoy.

>>I wish act 3 was longer, it does feel rushed and you don't get to play in your champion armour very long.
This. Finally you get all what you wanted after 50% of the act 3 quests (involved getting the armor) and the game ends. brilliant. really.

it takes me about 70 to 80 hours to finish DA2, the same that it takes for me to finish DAO. but in DA2 the sidequests (or secondary) take more time then in DAO, so if you're not a completionist like me DA2 will be shorter.
