I'm a bit confused about how Gibbed works.
I have the perfect (ME1) Shepherd... only, she's female. I want to play the character through ME2 as a male with a different name. I've figured out how to do all of that and it works when I load up the correct save but...
...I'm saving it in the folder specifically for the imported character. Should I be creating a new folder? And if so, what am I meant to name it? The numbers in the save folder names seem to make no sense (for instance, I have "Jill_33_Infiltrator_240411") so are they random or are they important? I'm also concerned about how it will affect importing into ME3.

When you import a previous ME2 playthrough, it should create a new folder, for that playthrough, using the data from the most recent save in that career you're importing.

Yes, and it creates it using the character's name in ME1, like what I wrote. But I want to change the name of the character.

You don't have to create a new folder or rename it if you don't want to, I don't think, if all you want to do is change the name. The folder name won't change, but the save will. If you import it later for a NG+, then the new folder that's created will be named appropriately.
You can change the end game state to "live to fight again" with the save editor, and then import that save as a ME2 save, and let the game create the folder with the new name, if you want to. If the name of the folder is important to you.
Then you can delete the ME1 import, or use it again to customize other Shepards, that you can then import as ME2 saves.
