Carver: Dead, Mother: Dead, Gamlen: Jerk, "Justice": Bat-nuts, [exaggeration]99%[/exaggeration] of quests: Ending in Tragedy, did anyone else think that they'd go to the Gallows in Act II or III only to find that Circle Bethany had been made Tranquil against her will? I was so relieved when I completed my playthrough with Bethany still in one piece and of sound mind

Tranquil, no.  But sadly, I honestly expected to find out one of the templars was raping her like they seem to have been to half the mages Hawke encounters.

i jst thought of something, might be really stupid but ill say it anyway.
You know how theres a big mystery about who/what flemeth really is, and what is going on with morrigan, what if in witch hunt when she goes through that portal (i think she mentions going to the future or soemthing similar) what if it combines with mass effects story and that portal leads that that time or some ****.. needs a bit of expanding but.

I didn't get circle Bethany, but I wouldn't have been surprised if either way she wound up dead.

Also could be expected that they'd kill off your love interest. Just to really dig in it that you need to never love anything in these games

If that happened, Hawke would have declared his own Rite against the templars.

Agreed.  If they added that, there would need to be an ending where instead of a few mages survive, a few templars survive.

If Bioware would allow it. I wasn't allowed to rage against Cullen and Hawkes scripted reaction probably would have been like all his other reactions to dead family members and tragedies.

"That is sad. I will not meantion it again. I don't care anyway, because there is no coin involved."

Be interesting to see how many people would still be in favor of sending Bethany to the Circle if that did happen.

If what Bethany got raped by a Templar? . Well lets put it this way Hawke would declare open season on any and all Templars and there would be a rock small enough for the to hid under if that were to happen.<LOL>

I was more expecting the Templars to use Bethany as leverage over Hawke.

Grace tried that, didn't work out so well for her.

Meredith does that in Act III if you get pissy about hunting down Huon and the others. I was not amused.

I was expecting to have to make either (romanced) Anders or Bethany tranquil. Or let Meredith kill one of them. Or something equally heartbreaking. I felt like I got off pretty lightly...!

I think you can let Meredith execute Bethany if you side with the templars. I'm not sure however...

Yeah I heard that as well. You can let your brother/sister die in the deep roads of course, if you really want her dead. Just don't bring Anders along.

Bethany is with Orsino when he goes all Harvester mode. After you take him down there's a conversation where Hawke either steps in or lets Meredith kill Beth.

It's, um...yeah, I didn't take it.

At that point Meredith threatens to kill Bethany, and you can intervene, or let it happen.

If you speak up, Meredith says "have it your way", and walks off to the courtyard.  Bethany joins you for the final battle.

If you let Meredith kill her, then you see a shot of Bethany, and then a sword pokes through her chest from behind, held by Meredith.

My track record in Dragon Age has been romancing Morrigan and Anders... honestly if my next love interest dies it might not be as bad of an emotional heart tugger....

Seriously...

  How does anyone justify doing that?  That's just vile.  Bethany is the most innocent and good soul in the game, not to mention the PC's little sister.  How the holy hell do we get no options to turn in Merrill for blood magic or Anders if he kills Ella, no bad guy way to deal with Aveline, ect. but there's an option to let a psychopath murder Bethany with the PC's blessing?

I'm still waiting for the patch that will unlock the subplot of Bethany carrying Cullin's love-child.

Actually, I am using the family tragedy as a Warrior this 3rd time to justify taking the Templar path, and opposing Blood magic. Still have not decided whether to take sis and Anders to the Deep Roads or not, but she will not die if Hawke has anything to say about it.
