Good example. Miranda and Oriana as well.

Geth are cooler and more powerful than the lousy Quarians.

It seems you may have missed the point with the artist thing. Regardless of whether it is sapient, if it (as in a non-organic) was created by something/someone, they should have the right to do whatever they wish with it.

Why? Is this supervisory being somehow perfect? Does it transcend our ethical coda?
Forsaking all moral responsibility to a single entity and/or creator is a short stone's toss away from sectarianism and similar movements.

Geth don't feel the same as organics. Also, is it safe to assume you are against rewriting the geth on Legion's loyalty mission?

Perhaps they don't "feel the same" as organics. But would you question that they feel? Can you truly argue that they are somehow of lesser worth simply because they have achieved sentience per a development cycle of their own?

As for Legion's loyalty mission, it offers the one true moral conundrum of Mass Effect 2.
I'll admit I struggle with it, seeing as I do not think killing is a viable solution for any problem. But when faced with that binary choice, yes, I opted to destroy them.
Rather they died knowing their place and values, than living a mockery of a life designed to repress them.

Or, as Extra Credits so aptly put it...

Identical twins are naturally occuring clones. Why are they distinct from man made clones? On what basis do you say that tank-born are soulless, when you yourself say testing is impossible?

They are soulless.

If Grunt who is indistinguishable from all other Krogan doesn't have a soul (lets face it, if nobody told you he was Tank bred would you be able to tell?), then none of the Krogan do, so by your befinition souls do not exist.

The same must necessarily be true of Miranda and Oriana, they are clones too (and by your definition soulless) and also indistinguishable from a naturally born human, ergo souls do not exist.

Ramirez Wolfen wrote...

@Dave666 Shepard wasn't "recreated." They took Shepard's remains and built off of them.

Logically there shouldn't have been much remains left to build off of.  Given the suffocation (killing the brain cells) atmospheric re-entry and terminal velocity coupled with hitting the ground and the freezing temperatures once on the ground.  I don't know if you noticed, but there was ice everywhere.

I'd also be interested in hearing your response on the clone issue I posted a page or so back.  It is essentially the same thing as the Geth (which you have admitted are sentient) the only difference is that its dealing with organics.

We must meet this threat with our courage, our valor, indeed with our very lives to ensure that human civilization, not GETH, dominates this galaxy *now and always*!

You're some sort of big, fat, smart-machine, aren't you?

You trying to be a hero Jenkins?
Just trying to kill some Geth, sir.

To fight the Geth, we must understand the Geth. We can ill afford another Eden Prime.

Christians have to believe that all sentience comes from God - The game clearly states that the Geth are sentient - hence the Geth are one of Gods creations.

If Christians disbelieve this then i can only assume they lack the necessary faith in their creator.

Oh, not this oh-so-obviously biased statement again? Cuddly wittle quarians vs. evil, heartless, soulless not-even-alive machines. The presence of Tali doth not absolve thee of culpability for the situation <_<

The quarians made this mess themselves. They can deal with it themselves. In my book, they got exactly what they deserved. Go read Frankenstein. I have no sympathy for an absentee parent complaining about their offspring levelling the playing field. You reap what you sow.

The Geth, after cleaning up the Quarian homeworld, left it and built spacestation near it. It don't see why they couldn't peacefully live together. I wish for Tali to have a homeland, but I don't want to see the geth get destroyed over this.

Yeah, except it's more like one group of kids slaughtered said absentee parent, along with most of its other children, who then fled the house and went on to have children who went on to have more children....

I think what happened to the Quarian is a good thing. It was only a matter of time before Quarians start using Geth not just merely slave labor but also tools of war. This Geth uprising certainly taught the citadel race that artificial life deserve the same right and respect that is currently enjoyed by their citizens. That is despite the fact my LI in ME2 is Tali.

Oh please.  You can make this argument about anything that could potentially be used to wage war:

Species X has discovered fission.  It's only a matter of time before they make atom bombs and thermonuclear missiles.  Best we just kill the vast majority now before that happens.

Species Y has discovered fire....

You're not seeing my point here.

The Geth can think. They can form opinions. They're intelligent.

No one has the right to take that away, not even those who created them. That's heartless and shows absolutely no regard for the fact that they created self-aware, intelligent life.

Put it this way, let's pretend for a moment that life is in the Assassin's Creed world. Humans were created by an incredibly advanced species that left at some point in our history.

Suddenly they come back and decide that hey! because they created us, they can do what they want. Time to go back to slavery and lose your free will little apes! What? Why are you fighting so hard to stay free? We made you! We can do whatever we want with you!

You see?

So your parents have the right to kill you? Or are you making an arbitrary, baseless dictinction based on what the brain is made out of? (as in squishy things = person with rights; shiny, superconductive things = slave)
