Bioware, I do not support geth, I do not like them, I abhor them.

@Godwood I think it would be nice in ME3 if we could help Xen develop something that puts all the geth back under quarian control (renegade option might be human control). Maybe the quarians could do a Trojan horse style move?

I don't even think human control would be necessary.
By putting the geth back under quarian control humanity would have itself a powerful ally.

True, and it wouldn't really look right if the humans just somehow got the geth under their control.

I like my geth like I like my cylons. With a plan.

Our we could accept the geth as a independant species capable of making logical decisions.

To put it simply (for me at least)

No.

The Quarians created the Geth for labor. Fair enough, the Geth were simple creatures without any hint of awareness.

Then the Quarians made them smarter to deal with more complex tasks, because hey, making them do all their simple tasks that Quarians could probably do themselves wasn't lazy enough.

The Geth developed awareness and came to realize themselves and their situation.

The Quarians realized this. Instead of reacting with wonderment that they had created an entirely new species, new "life" - what did they do? Try to destroy their slave force because they'd developed free will and awareness.

The Geth fought back to survive and won.

Yes, the Quarians situation is a sad one, but it's self made. Apparently their home world is still a mess, and hey! The Geth are busy fixing it for the Quarian's eventual return. Why would they do that for people who tried to wipe them out just for existing?

Conclusion: The Geth are more compassionate than any organic race will ever be.

[/serious]

This.

I don't want to choose between them, I WANT THEM BOTH and they want to be both allied even after Reapers are defeated!

Geth + Quarians = Win

Though make it hard to achieve.

I agree. But I don't see how it would be hard. The geth are perfectly willing to accept peace if the quarians were willing to let go of their pride and look for a peaceful solution...

That would be dumbest thing that Quarians could do.

What makes you think that Geth won't defeat that virus some day? Bye, bye Quarians.
It's better to destroy them.

What? No they made very much non-sapient labor bots that, through a totally unforseen consequence, got smart when networked.  To this day, the individual programs are themselves not sapient (per Legion, they're on par with a VI).  Did you just not talk to Tali in ME1?

I did.

It's stated in the codex that a single geth has the intelligence and basic survival instincts as an animal. Unfortunately never specified if that's just a single process or an entire platform's worth.

The quarians still handled it badly.

Admiral Xen is a problem for that and maybe next admiral that will replace Tali's father.

That is probably the reason her name is Xen, yes. Bioware isn't very subtle.

I never noticed it.

But I never got the impression she's a xenophobe.
More like she's a huge nationalist.

What? And giving the Quarians the reigns to enslave a race would be paragon?

@Antivenger I don't view the geth as a race. The geth became sentient by mistake, and if the quarians return the geth to their intended state, then the quarians would actually fix their mistake.

THIS! Seriously, what the hell? o_o

Enslaving a sentient creature is wrong no matter what form it takes.

Paragon option; Helping the Geth find their much wanted "unity."

Yeah i would be pissed if it came down to that. There is nothing right about enslaving a race no matter the IQ or emotions it is capable of. It is capable of thought process and it feels that is enough to show some humanity towards them. Legion alone is enough to show me the geth are not a evil species. If they are able to learn they are able to change.

A mistake that you will deal with. The way you describe it, it is like giving a lobotomy to a person because they are able to feel and think on their own.

Alright, so the view is split and there is probably no way to change either side's minds. Xen vs Quib Quib. Now, a question for you,

What do you think the Quarians would do if they managed to regain control of the Geth? Not as labour bots, but as slaves.

Note that if they have already gained control, Xen would have superior control.

The geth would not be slaves. They would be returned to their former state, as a labor force, with no sentience.

So the evolution of life is a mistake, and somehow lesser life?
