besides wanting more post-magevstemplar story on the lyrium idol
mostly just make it more clear-cut between which side you side with, namely if you side with mages whats the point of orsino going insane? if you side with meredith what's the point of her going insane? none...
and to make Act 3 more interesting the middle part should've been more revealing of the internal conflicts in both the circle and templars between moderates and extremists
If there was one tiny change you could make to the plot...

There's a lot of stuff I would change, and I do mean a lot. But if it's only one thing I suppose...Not using the the framed-narrative.
It added absolutely nothing to the over-arching plot, except for a cameo from Leliana. In fact, it removed control from the player almost entirely. (looking at you, act 3).
I'm not saying the framed-narrative was an entirely bad idea. But it could have been executed much better.
For example, Alpha Protocol. It's a game where a character is being interrogated in the same fashion as Varric. But the story later catches up in real-time, which felt satisfying. If only Hawke emerged from the shadows, or something, and just went "Here I am, seeker!"
But instead, Varric has no idea where she is, and we basically ended up playing the prolouge instead. I'm betting the continuation will be DLC. Why? Because some developer said the DA franchise is about Thedas, and not one character (like The Warden).
Therefore it wouldn't make much sense for DA3 to be centered around Hawke. It makes more sense to have a new protagonist every installment.

add a mass effect like renegade action to just push Orsino Out when he starts getting a 'bit agitated' in act 3. add a quick cutscene of him being carried away by mages...
