When Anders came to Hawke and asked him to help him find saltpeter and sulfur, I was sure that he was up to something with that Qunari recipe we heard about back in Act 1. I thought to myself: "Ah, it was ze Chekhov's Gun indeed, yes? I see now. Zis is what zey 'ave been building up to with all zat talk of nonmagical explosions. I wonder vhere Anders is going to set the bomb."
But then when it finally exploded, it was all beams of red light and cool sfx. *le sigh*
It would have been far better if Anders had used the Qunari mundane recipe for the explosion. Think of the irony! All this time people have been saying that mages are dangerous because they have magic, like a man with a sword who cannot ever put down the sword, and then Anders commits this terrible act of politically motivated destruction with nonmagical means!
If Anders had let my Hawke in on the plan, he would have SOOOOO suggested using Qunari powder. The recipe should have been lying around somewhere after the end of Act 2.
