forbiddenplanet.com often stocks things after a while, though the prices are a little higher than the exchange rate indicates even taking VAT into account (though they're not that much more, admittedly).  No sign of it yet, though.

Not exactly happy that the only model for sale is only 6.25 inchs long. It looks like the material is made from rubber and painted over, even though i am pretty sure that they won't use rubber to make the Normandy.

To be honest, i almost bought it, but the size of it and the material that has been used to make it clearly bugs me. The lines cuts into the model look extremely scruffy, but that's probably me being too fussy.

Hopefully they will make a better and larger version of the Normandy for us collectors, as the only other option, that i can see, is the wooden sculpt of the Normandy, which i don't particularly like either, due to the base.

If your unhappy with the your estimation of the quality based on the few pictures put out (which are likely not final product pics by the way) fine.  However there is no need to be warning people that this is shoddy or to stay away from it.

You get what you pay for.  It's only around $30 so that size and quality is the ballpark your going to be in.  To get a well made larger scale model your looking at many times that cost and up.   If one of better quality get's made, fantastic, but until that time, it's either this Normandy, or no Normandy.

Hmmmm. I will edit out the warning then. It has over exaggerated my comment. But i never actually made an real attempt to shoo people away from it, just making some basic observations.

I can wait for a version of the Normandy that i am more satisfied with, the cost doesn't bother me too much as long as i think it's decent. I've actually been thinking of making a large lego version of it like some fans have done.

I just pre-ordered this on BBTS. They have a pic of the front and the back that are a little better than the one on the site linked above. I would have waited for the BS store to carry it. But, BBTS has always been good to me too.
