I am sure that Skyrim will wipe the floor with DA2. Even Morrowind is superior to DA2 and that is nearly 10 years old!

*Shrugs*, Oblivion was very disappointing when it was released as well, we've yet to see much of Skyrim, can't see what people are getting so worked up over

Oh now, that's not fair. TES are a juggernaut. People have been waiting for years for TES V, Skyrim, and it will be the fastest horse out of the stable for 2011.
I will not buy it right away, because of the inevitable multitude of bugs that seem to be 'normal' for Bethesda, but I will definitely buy it eventually.

Skyrim is Sandbox RPG with a focus on open world gameplay and exploration.
Dragon Age 2 is an Action RPG with a focus on narrative and characters.
I would call neither a pure or classical RPG, but that doesn't really matter much. What matters is that they are two different types of games with a focus on different elements.
There are elements in each game which can be compared directly with each other, but if you want to stack them against each other as a whole, I'm reminded of a phrase with the words apples and oranges.

As for sales, Skyrim will do infinitely better. Bethesda games usually do. Just a fact of life.

DA2 was made in roughly 18 months.
Skyrim was(I think) being made since Fallout 3 after the main DLC.
I think the winner is obvious.

The consesus among the critics is that Skyrim is going to be amazing!

I actually am playing Oblivion atm. I found some really nice mods on the Nexus, and I'm enjoying it very much.
I won't play FO3. I had some fun with it, on my nephew's computer, but it's not my cup of tea. It never was, I'm a FO 1 and 2 fan at heart.
FONV will have to wait as well. My system can't run it, not enough memory (or so "Can you run it" tells me) It's a laptop, and I'm not savy enough to install more ram myself, nor do I know anyone who would try to attempt it for me.
I'm hoping it's fixed by the time Skyrim is acceptable for me to purchase.

Skyrim comes out on November 11. Is Dragon Age 2 going to stand up against the latest Elder Scrolls entry?

Mad replay value, fun, quests, story and the most awesome voice acting ever = TES.

TW2 will wipe the floor with DA2, and so will Skyrim. DA2 will look like a low budget indie game in comparison, with the difference that indie games usually have passion and soul that went into making them.

According to steam, I have twice as much hours spent playing Plants vs. zombies than Dragon Age II. I also had more fun in PVZ. Double you tea eff!

You can turn the standard 4 gigabyte game into a 12 gb game with every aspect improved and more content than you can play in a life time... If you have the patience to make all those mods work together.

I
doubt they would make that mistake again. They haven't since, in other
games: Fallout 3 (which had some massive problems with story,
characters, and over-acting, but not variety), and New Vegas (which was
awesome made into a sauce).
