Hello all,

I'm midway through chapter 2 and mycharacters have stopped gaining points on the relationship bars from conversations.

From looking a guides for example on the quest PRIME SUSPECTS if you let the mage go, Meril, Fenris and Isabela all gain rivalry points.

I just get a quest updated note.

Isabela will gain points from her gift, but Anders and Avaline don't.

Has anyone else encounter this and if so did you manage to fix it?

I have gone back to a save 15 hours before to see if it was maybe the save I was using and I'm still encountering the same issue.

If you're speaking about Anders not gaining rivalry points for the amulet, it's a known bug and is supposed to be fixed in 1.03.

that is one of them but also dialogue doesn't always do anything, guessing a similar bug. Cheers

This may be irrelevant, but once you have the companion maxed in either direction, the bar is locked.

Nah this is a problem with gaining rivalry. If you give anders an amulet there is no way for him to take it except +friendship. Even choosing all the aggressive options.

I just didn't give him the present on my rivalry playthrough. Thankfully when a quest appears for him, the quest conversation will take priority over the present.

I seem to be having difficulty getting Fenris past ~70 rivalry. Even doing quests and choosing options which should give rivalry points don't. And when I try to use the console to boost rivalry, it gives friendship instead.

I can't find any mention of this as a bug anywhere. Is it just me?

I haven't had trouble with Fenris and points though I have had a hard time with Varric, he seems to be impossible to rival at all.

I rivalled him no problem. It was fun.

@Elysium-Fic That definitely sounds like a bug!

OK I'm having the same problem that the original poster had. I have Fenris at about 75% rivalry, and I've done two things now that the guides say should give me more rivalry points. Most recently, I let Gasgard go after finding him in the estate. If letting a blood mage walk free doesn't ****** off Fenris, I don't know what will. But the other people I haven't maxed out yet are still gaining friendship/rivalry points. Anyone know what I can do?

Edit: OK, so it may be that the rivalry points suggested in the Wiki are either inaccurate or conditional in some way.  Giving Fenris a gift got me more rivalry points.
