I am not surprised if somebody has already answered this somewhere else, but I have not been able to find any thread regarding the same problem as I, matching the same bit-system.

First of all I'm running Vista, 64-bit, and my ME2-folder is located in C: Drive

I am currently running MassEffect2.exe v. 1.00, because v. 1.02 cannot be installed.
It gives me the following message, when I try to install it: "Mass Effect 2 was not found. Please re-install Mass Effect 2".

Also, I have not bought it through Steam, and I live in Denmark, playing the English version.

I was more focused on completing the game, therefore I completed it in v. 1.00.

Now I have bought the DLC "Lair of the Shadow Broker", which is, as far as I can read, a real pain in the arse.
After having spent lots of hours waiting for it to be done downloading, I have been unable to successfully install it both with and without opening it as administrator.
It gives me the exact same message as mentioned before, when I am trying to install the latest patch.

I do not know, whether it is due to the version, because it is on Vista, 64-bit, etc.

I hope somebody will know, what the problem might be, since this is such a major issue among people.

The newer DLCs check your game version and try to apply patch 1.02 if necessary, which is why you're seeing the same behavior as when you try to manually apply the patch.

As for not finding the EXE, it sounds like your ME2 installation is messed up such that Windows no longer sees it like it should. Not sure how to fix it other than re-installing.

I do recall Vista not always playing nice when games were installed to a custom folder other than Program Files. I'm on Win7 64-bit now and haven't had that issue.

So you would suggest that I should re-install and keep it in its original folder, and then try to install the DLC after having made sure, that the game is running correctly?

I am happy to announce that re-installing Mass Effect 2 and keeping it in its original folder made it possible for me to install the DLC.

I deleted Mass Effect 1 in the process, which I don't know why...
