No it is not possible to skip the quest or save her.MajorJoeKickass wrote...
Hi, i wonder if it is possible to avoid the death of Hawkes mother if you just skip the quest? (than i mean all the way from the Bounty quest)

You aren't supposed to enjoy this quest.Barefoot Warrior wrote...
Yeah, I tried to skip that one too, didn't work. I wish there was a way around this or be able to save her, really didn't enjoy this one and saw no reason for it. But that's just me I guess.

But that's just me. My Hawke had mother issues.

That explains why the white lilac serial murder quest ended so abruptly. They took out the resolution to force Leandra's murder.

I think I remember reading, originally, they intended to have a way to save her but figured people would simply reload until they got the quest right but Idk how reliable the sources are on that. Anyway as for OP then it's a mandatory quest in which the end results don't change.
Yea that's true, too bad still that they didn't make a option to save her tough, because i would have one playtrough with her alive and one with her dead

Tbh my main problem is not the fact that she dies, but how it happens. It is a ridiculous shocker moment that almost ruins the game for me. Also it should have happened in the 3rd Act just before mage-templar conflict culminates. With the 3 years inbetween it is even more unreasonable that Hawke could not find evidence of Orsino's involvement. And if you add to that Hawke 'waits' 3 years after he/she meets the murderer first time. I can't think of any way they could have done this quest worse. It is almost as if they try to ruin the game on purpose.LobselVith8 wrote...
Having an option to save her with take away from the player's inability to make any meaningful choices in this game. Linear storytelling is apparently the way to go.

If you let Dupieux go you can head straight to darktown during the day and instantly appear in the necromancers lair..
Or wait all day head to Lowtown at night and work your way by following a trail.
I can see Quentin doing his work by nightfall after you spend all day looking for him.
Not after a few hours or less as you go directly to him via the blood magic homing beacon set up by his apprentice.
The whole thing goes a little askew, take Aveline to the two prior stages, as "captain" of the guards.
She acts as if the entire events she witnessed were all make believe.

brilliant. as i felt really connected and at home with the virtual family it was a harsh hit and all other accomplishments seemed so diminished by these problems, but it made hawke also much more of a person (also the reactions) and less of a brick, which is one of the game evolutions i do appreciate a lot.

In my experience it was unjustified and random to the level of burlesque. There is not a strong enough connection between the preparing quests. In a way, the whole, one city, bunch of quests separated by acts is just as poorly sewn togheter as Hawke's mother.
What rating does this game have anyway ...

This quest is stupid. You say this made your Hawke feel more real ? This made my Hawke feel like a puppet on a string. What reviewer was who said, this game should've been called Errand Boy 2 ?

your first sentences basically undermine your argumentation. in reality (ie real world) we have less control than we would like to. we often feel powerless and like puppets on a string. thats real. ppl play videogames to feel in charge and in control. thats good. mixing both ie powerful AND feeling like a ship in a storm is enriching the game and adds to the overall personality. no brick type this time. (by all his power, hawke IS struggeling to survive, and get his own family through the events, and dramatically fails as protector of his own kin) .. does make it feel like a good mix for me. It may surely not fit anyones expectations towards a mature videogame for sure.
The later sentences of yours are just polemic and say more about your motivation than making a point to your cause.
my 2 cents,
wood

They could have written Leandra better, she says all but a few sentences the whole game. I didn't like how she was the mourning mother and perked up when she got into the estate. No depth. Im grieving, im better, time to go on a date and dies. Horribly.
Maybe the writers didn't like her.
aye, i second that one. if they go such a length to enrich that game it should count for more.

I guess I'm a stone, but I didn't miss her a bit. No matter what I did to save people, all she would do is bring up Carver in a really downer way. Since I only knew Carver for about 3 minutes, it was tough for me to empathize.
Ditto.
It would have been nice to have the option to save her, I guess. But I think they did that so you didn't get the feeling that you "failed" the quest if she dies.
Even better would be if you can't avoid her becoming Frankenmom...but you can choose to keep her alive. Zombie mother would be way more fun than whiney, resentful mother.
