It's fun to watch your guy jumping at their necks at their death. What factors into that? Do you score a crtical hit on their death blow? I find Lienna doing this far more than my other characters.

I'm not sure but I seem to get them on every ogre.. someone gets in the killing blow and then swings up to finish them off. My main rogue has had two. I thought it was really great when Oghren took one out and then started speaking some random line about the quest during his take down..

I find it happens far more often if the target is very very close to death, and you hit them for far more than their remaining health. This is particularly common when I'm dual wielding on my arcane warrior, as my off hand hits far less than my main hand, and it tends to be a hit for 30 or so plus elemental damage followed by a main hand hit for 70 plus elemental that finishes the target, resulting in a finisher.

That would make sense. It seems like duel wielders have an advantage of sorts. My main character deals heavy two handed damage, and usually is the one to put in the most damage out of anyone, yet only once did it trigger. Oghren got a few, while Lienna scores a good amount.

A previous post that seemed rather authorative to me stated it's based on:
Rank
Remaining enemies
Melee killing blow
The higher the rank, the more likely. With a 100% chance on High Dragons.
The fewer remaining enemies, the more likely. So kill it last of the group.
Has to be with a melee killing blow. But, considering I've killed 5 High Dragons so far and have always seen it, that might also be optional, only requiring a melee nearby for them.

I get it every single time with my Assassin character. Really annoying if the ogre is the first thing I kill and I'm surrounded getting beat on by... well everything. I think melee needs to get finishing blow and not your ranged or spellcasters. Don't think it needs any more than that.

That's pretty much it...one time fighting the ogre in tha Ostagar tower I had stripped the guards of their valuables....not to be confused with their jewels....and one of em got the killing blow. Poor ogre got his neck punched in. Reminded me of Beowulf a bit.

At least the finishing blow is in slow motion so you won't be unable to respond to the other enemies for as long as the game would make you believe...
I think it's kind of nice seeing the other guys auto-attack in the background in slow-mo.

Want to buy ranged fatalities for archers. Unless there are any, then I didn't say anything hihi.

That would be fun, albeit hard to track your arrow if you were zoomed out...still we can use Legolas as a prime example, if ya watched the LoTR movies, sticking a troll in the brain with an arrow while perched on his neck/shoulders...might not be so hard to think up an animation.
Group "fatalities" would also be quite interesting...melee furiously hacking away at the body whilst ranged then has the opportunity to go for critical spots and finish it all off with a mage(if ya got one) popping the monsters head off with say...a fireball or stonefist. But now I think I'm getting ahead of myself. Or it's late...or both.

Well, they only need 2 or 3. Maybe 2 for the "normal" humanoids and 1 for each "big" target. (dragon/ogre/etc)

Leliana in party steals all the fatality moves for me. Arrow of Slaying is just so OP!
