I'm running Mass Effect 2: Digital Delux Edition v1.02. Bought and run through Steam
Details about your problem.
1. This isn't a gameplay issue exactly, but when I first start Mass Effect 2 and reach the main menu I immediately get an error saying the EA server timed out trying to log me into the Cerberus Network. At wich point I have to click OK, wait for about 30 seconds for the main menu to appear and manually log onto my EA account (the manual login occurrs without a hitch). Returning to the menu from the game won't cause the problem, it's only on startup.
2. When did the problem start occurring?
This problem arose from seemingly nowhere about 2 weeks ago. I installed the latest DLC long before ths began and I haven't installed any new programs or had any major overhaul on my computer.
3. Where does your problem occur?
As previously stated, every time on startup.
4. What are the steps in replicating the problem?
I start the game via shortcut, Steam is always running in the background. When prompted by steam to select eather "play Mass Effect 2" or "Mass Effect 2 Launcher," I pick the play game option, at which point the bioware and EA videos play, the ME2 splashscreen shows, I hit a button (spacebar normally, problem occurrs with any keystroke in case there's a magic "disconnect" key I don't know about in game) and within a quarter second get the sever time out error.
5. Have you modified your game in any way?
Official DLC only. No modified saves, loading screens, options... Strictly code I got straigt off of steam.

Did you all check your firewall allowences to make sure it's allowing Mass Effect 2?

Double checked and the firewall isn't blocking ME2. Is the Cerberus Network run off of a seperate program similar the Ubisoft game launcher client? If it is then I need to allow that through but the firewall isn't the problem.

I take it there's been no luck for an answer on this problem? i've been having it out of the blue for the last week and I can't find an answer myself. My firewall's setup fine and worked before this without any problems.

It wont automatrically log you in any more, you have to manually enter your details each time. Its a problem with EA's servers, I suggest you contact them and register your complaints. If they get enough, they might do smoething about it.

I'll just add my voice into this. I've suddenly got the same problem, as well. I'm running on a retail version of the game (My code is from Steam, however).
Hopefully it'll be fixed soon enough.

Same problem here. Very annoying as it makes you enter the login info everytime. Why can't it "remember me"? The 20 seconds of waiting for the "Ok" to go through is not fun either.
Edit: This is the boxed retail version of the game (not steam).

Same problem, since installing Arrival I believe.

I'd say that's a coincidence more than anything. I don't recall having this issue when I played Arrival.andysdead wrote...

Take it up with Steam and EA support. Nothing we can do for you here.

The following worked for me:
1. Copy the folder 'Save' in My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2 to another location like Desktop
2. Remove the entire BioWare folder in My Documents
3. Start the game (you may want to reconfigure things like resolution first)
4. Login with EA Account
5. Exit the game and copy the 'Save' folder you copied before back to My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2
This should do the trick.. Good luck

I had the same problem and followed what KillingSpreeNL was saying. I've narrowed the conflicting files. You should do a copy of these files before deleting them.
1. My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Config
- delete file named : BioPersistentEntitlementCache.ini
2. My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile
- delete all the files in there.
By deleting only these files, you won't screw up your saved games and settings.

You should be aware that deleting the player1.prf file in the profile folder will remove all achievements that you have gained.

Hi, I have bought Mass Effect 2 using Steam. When I try to login to my Ea.com account, I receive authorization errors. I use the same login email & password which I used in ea.com login process. Is there a fix for this?

I found just deleting this:
1. My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Config
- delete file named : BioPersistentEntitlementCache.ini
Worked. When I ran the game, it gave me an unauthorized DLC content. I logged into the EA Servers and exited the game. The game logs me every time I play.
Thanx.

Solution is here!!
After some lengthy discussions with an EA tech (who could not help me) I came upon this post
http://social.biowar...index/2845006/2
next to last reply states that your BSN password should not contain any special characters...
tried this out (by changing my Origin/EA password) and guess what?
BAM! I'm in the Cerberus NW again and can claim my DLC...
Pretty messed up... they should crosscheck their password requirements at EA/Bioware and have them align to one another...
Hope this will help others. Sneaky!!

Tried Blodget's solution. It worked but after I restart my PC, it didn't anymore.
Ouroboross69's solution doesn't apply to me.
