I didn't find the quarians very sympathetic. they created and enslaved a race of sentient robots and tried to commit genocide against them when they asked for freedom. they deserved what they got.Mesina2 wrote...

Some liked her because she was very shy, reserved, naive and a bit geeky and really appealed to male gamers who was also shy, reserved, socially awkward, and generally geeky in real life. Not to mention that she came across as VERY submissive.
I never got where people were getting this from. Tali always came off as spunky and headstrong in ME1 to me. I mean this was a girl who's response to an assasination attempt was to blow up her would be assasins, jumped at the chance to go on a dangerous mission with a dude/lady she just met, and had no problem with mouthing off to a former Krogan warlord. I do think they made her a bit more moeish in ME2, but still.

I knew Tali was going to win my poll i conducting involving all the characters but had no idea she would win by that much
A more baffling question is how Kaidan got that many votes.
edit: Hint: Whoever links it to there respective fanbases first wins.

Ditto. I get the geeky bit, but shy? She's always willing to talk to Shepard and speak her mind. And yeah, She has no problem blowing up her would-be attackers. How that registers as shy is beyond me.

Okay, maybe she isn't shy but in comparison to the other women like Ashley, Miranda, and Jack, Tali is the most submissive of them all. Not to mention she has this "youthfullness" nature to her. Not to mention that shes a virgin....

She liked a lot because she's REAL NICE to Shepard ever since they first met. The "nicer" characters are usually like more.
Jacob is nice. I find him to be as boring as Kaiden.

@MajesticJazz No, it's the other fan bases as well. Look, I'm not going to deny that some of the Talimancers were a bit crazy at one point, but saying that it's just them is wrong.
I'm not saying that it is JUST the Tali fanbase. I can point you to many obsessive Thane, Garrus, and Ashley fans. So in no way is it JUST the Tali fans.
However when you compare them side by side, the Tali fans have the MOST obsessive fans in their ranks. If this wasn't the case, then she would not have been brought back for ME2 as a romance.

Jack's entire romance subplot is how she needs a man to fix her.

And Ashley isn't a nice character? She might not be submissive and she may be a strong female who has some "masculine" traits to her, but does that mean she isn't nice?
I'm not trying to define you but I still believe when people say that Tali was REAL NICE, what they really mean is that she stroked Shepard's ego which someone like Ashley doesn't do. When people say that Tali was REAL NICE they really mean that she is really submissive, which someone like Ashley wasn't like.

I'm not really understanding what you mean by submissive. What has Tali done or conceded to Shepard that makes her submissive?

Geth might be my favorite race in any SF game/movie/book I know, but killing billions of people to get your freedom is a bit... too harsh, to put it lightly.
Also Geth didn't become sentient until they got upgraded to do more complex tasks for Quarians so they were just machines.
So should we humans end the slavery of this robots?

Now they did become sentient later, but don't think that Quarian action wasn't little justified. They feared they might rebelled once they find out they are and kill many people.
So to avoid bloodshed, Quarians attacked first. Ironically, that course of action created what they feared if they didn't act first.
