She's cute and kinda nerdy.
Engineer.
Great voice actor.
Sympathetic race.
Happy?
Geth might be my favorite race in any SF game/movie/book I know, but killing billions of people to get your freedom is a bit... too harsh, to put it lightly.
Also Geth didn't become sentient until they got upgraded to do more complex tasks for Quarians so they were just machines.
So should we humans end the slavery of this robots?
Now they did become sentient later, but don't think that Quarian action wasn't little justified. They feared they might rebelled once they find out they are and kill many people.
So to avoid bloodshed, Quarians attacked first. Ironically, that course of action created what they feared if they didn't act first.
What was so great about Tali?

It wouldn't be genocide if the Geth weren't sapient yet. Unfortunatley for the Quarians they were.

Not all of them were clearly "sentient.". A few displayed signs, the majority did not. The quarians were attempting to prevent the rise from occurring, not realizing that their creations which had been engineered specifically to NOT attain consciousness had already spontaneously done so.higherice wrote...

One thing that's never really made clear in the game, but has been on the forum by former devs, is that in the Mass Effect universe it's no secret how to raise a computer to consciousness. The geth were specifically designed contrary to that goal, and yet it happened anyway. It was unintentional and unpredictable.

But the Quarians didn't know that at the time, and its not like they could do anything about that after the Geth started killing everyone.

I'm not really understanding what you mean by submissive. What has Tali done or conceded to Shepard that makes her submissive?
Submission in the nature that when you compare her romance to that of say....Ashley, Miranda, and Jack, Tali offers no resistance what so ever. After you save her from Haestrom and do her loyalty mission she then goes on to talk about how she wants to get intimate with Shepard:
Go to the 1:00 mark
Tali: It's just that the tradition is also signifies a willingness for, um, intimacy.
Tali: What could I possibly be suggesting? I mean, a young woman gets rescued by a dashing commander who lets her join his crew and then goes off to save the galaxy?
In other words, she wants to open her legs for Shepard. Now before you say "Well in all romances they want to open their legs for Shepard" but that isn't the truth. Most of the sexual dialog with Ashley and Miranda for example come AFTER the romance has been set in stone. The Tali sexual dialog comes BEFORE the romance in set in stone. You come down there wanting to talk to her and it ends with her wanting to "bend over" for Shepard.
THIS is what I mean when I say that Tali does not put up any walls.
If you think not, then describe ONE moment in ME2 where she puts up some resistance to Shepard banging her.

Its painfully ovious that you have never read the story expansion novels. All your questions about that sort of thing and the Quarians can be answered by reading the book "Ascension"

No, I don't.
I do not approve that Quarians didn't first attempt diplomacy with Geth, but they did feared if Geth were preparing for rebellion or might prepare soon.
They though they could stop them while they are weak and don't have any casualty, at least not any civilian.

that is true and Tali is willing to get an illness or even death to kiss shepherd and more which I feel is a bit iffy and feels desperate in comparison to the others
whereas the others think about the up sides and down sides to it especially when they are facing unbelievable odds even miranda almost cries about thinking about losing shepherd and wishes she does not have such feeling in such bad times for the galaxy

I liked Tali, first and foremost because of her skills. I was a Vanguard, so I needed a good tech expert (in ME1 more than in ME2!). Then I liked her accent, and her backstory and race were pretty interesting as well!
Even though I think Quarians are too blind towards "reality" because of their losses against the geth, I can´t wait to see how the conflict will be solved in ME3! (hell, if there can´t be a compromise between them, I might have to let the Quarians die :/ - OOOOOR I could just say, well, you are robots, our ethics can´t be applied to yours, so die xD)
And then, she´s kinda cute (mostly in ME2)...but I can´t say I´m crazy bout her ^^
