Yea I agree. I didn't like her either and I think some people at Bioware didn't like her either (obviously people who don't write the characters). See what Chris said some time ago (can't remember where tho)

"A lot of people like this character that I personally dislike and don't have any interest in liking at all. Try to convince me why I should like this character when I have no intent to do so."

Though I can understand not wanting to become an obsessive Tali worshiper, it is a fate worse than death.

I disagree, I think Tali is a very strong character. She consistently stands up for her beliefs even if Shepard disagrees with them, and isnt afraid of what needs to be done for the good of her ship or her people.  Her romance only comes off as submissive because A: its interspecies, so a suitor would automatically be concerned whether or not the other species partner would be interested, and B: the other two female romances, Miranda and Jack, are very aggressive by comparison. Even Liara has gone from submissive to ME 1 to much more aggressive in ME2 and LotSB, so even though I dont consider Tali to be submissive, she probably comes off that way to some people.

The Geth were sentient. Simple robots don't fight back unless they want to be free/self-preservation

But the Quarians didn't know that at the time, and its not like they could do anything about that after the Geth started killing everyone.

Yea the good old, "Let's kill them all since they aren't sentient and it doesnt matter!" to "Dam they're fighting back and must be sentient, it seems we are comitting genocide, aw dam."

She isn't in par with Jack, garrus, Grunt, Joker or Wrex, but she's a good one nontheless.

If they weren't sapient then it wouldn't be killing in the first place. It would be no more immoral than shutting down your computer.

Also the Quarians wouldn't exactly have alot of time to discuss the moral implications of the newely sapient Geth as they were kinda busy trying to not get murdered.

They could have discussed the moral implications BEFORE they started destroying all the geth. The geth only started fighting after the quarians decided to kill them all.

Strong and independent women are for weak and indecisive men. >_> lulz

I thought Tali was pretty Independent.  Hell at the start of ME2 she has her own squad.

Probably only because of her father. her team don't even listen to her, and they all die

Tali was in my opinion the least interesting of the party members in ME1. She had evidence against Saren and then she's just sitting on your ship talking about quarians and geth. I felt like she had nothing to do. In ME2 they developed her a bit more but the only reason she's not the least interesting party member is because BioWare wrote Samara into the game.

I don't hate Tali either. I'm just indifferent. In ME1 she's the only character I skipped when talking to the crew because I don't care about what she has to say.

I'm pretty sure they did. They realized that creating a race of illegal and possibly dangerous AIs was probably a really bad idea and tried to nip it in the bud before they became sapient. It was akin to an abortion than outright murder.

My point is, I don't go rant at people who like to eat spinach just because I don't.

I see there's a lot of love for spinach on the cooking forum and I just don't understand it. I didn't find it a particularly tasty veggetable. Didn't like they included it in in this sald. Would have prefered potato/tomato. Spinach always kinda annoyed me tbh, I find it a bit insipid.

Yeah, if you TinEye that, you can easily find out that it's nothing to do with Tali. What exactly is your point?

Except the Geth were already sentient when the quarians attacked.

I think every character has merits and flaws, as well as varied fans. So characters and entire fanbases shouldn't be judged based on some strange people you see on the net.

There are some who like Jack for her abrasive attitude and sympathetic past, some who like Garrus for his vigilante outlook and non-calibrating dialogue, and some who like Tali for being the kind, intelligent techie.

It's a matter of preference if you like or don't like certain characters. That's why there's variation in them.
