They didnt see it as genocide then. The Geth wern't sentient yet.

The Geth were sentient. Simple robots don't fight back unless they want to be free/self-preservation

But the Quarians didn't know that at the time, and its not like they could do anything about that after the Geth started killing everyone.

Yea the good old, "Let's kill them all since they aren't sentient and it doesnt matter!" to "Dam they're fighting back and must be sentient, it seems we are comitting genocide, aw dam."

If they weren't sapient then it wouldn't be killing in the first place. It would be no more immoral than shutting down your computer.

Also the Quarians wouldn't exactly have alot of time to discuss the moral implications of the newely sapient Geth as they were kinda busy trying to not get murdered.

They could have discussed the moral implications BEFORE they started destroying all the geth. The geth only started fighting after the quarians decided to kill them all.

I'm pretty sure they did. They realized that creating a race of illegal and possibly dangerous AIs was probably a really bad idea and tried to nip it in the bud before they became sapient. It was akin to an abortion than outright murder.

Except the Geth were already sentient when the quarians attacked.

Ok now we are just going in circles. The Quarians thought the Geth were not sapient at the time so they felt there was nothing immoral about shutting them off. Also you keep using the words "attack", "kill", and "destroy". They weren't coming at the Geth with machine guns and machetes. They were trying to turn them off. No different than uplugging a toaster.

From my extesive research >_> it seems that 10% of the people that like tali are crazy 10% of the people that hate tali only hate her because people like her and the rest arent on this thread =P

Tali always kinda annoyed me tbh, found her a bit whiny.

Really? Whiny? You're going with whiny?

Tali is probably one of the least whiny character! She talks about her pilgrimage and life on the flotilla in ME1, and then in ME2 she...still basically just talks about the flotilla. I mean...she was UPSET when she almost got exiled, and she points out that not having a homeworld kind of sucks....but I really would not countt that as whining! Geez louise.

The lack of violence in the act does not change its immorality, killing a sentient being is killing a sentient being, no matter how you do it. And just because the quarians may not of known that 100% of all the geth were sentient does not excuse them.

she goes on and on about how 'quiet' the ship is and how it annoys her. Plus she's boring.

Garrus is the whiniest character in mass effect, all he does is **** about how he wants you to kill people for him... and calibrations, prove me wrong.

She mentions once that it's quiet and makes it kinda hard to sleep and then in the next convo says she's used to it.

In my game she mentioned it quite a lot.

Speaking of accents, why does Kalregar have an american(I think?) accent... when the rest are obviously arabic?

Then you must have spoken to her repeatedly before completing another plot mission.

I'm thinking that different ships in the flotilla have different "regional " accents . Even though they're close , they'd need considerable efforts to homogenize their languages; Considering where the Ship was salvaged from can also add to the difference , Quib quib Comes to mind as an example.

Never understood why the Tali fans are TRULY obsessed with her. I understand which qualities everyone raves about....but in all honesty, she's a very boring character who is kind of immature in the whole "romance" department. Kind of a turn off. Even entertaining the thought of being with her sends me the chills and makes me feel bad about it haha. She's just...so young haha. Or at least she acts it.

But I mean, in ME1 she was a walking codex for the Quarian race (don't even try to argue that one), and in ME2 she was all crazy with the hormones and advances.

Love the kid, but as a friend and original squadmember. She'll always be in my crew...but I just dont see her as the godess that people make her out to be.

I still don't get why the virgin thing is such a big deal.

In any case this is just one big case of both hatedom and fan-hating on the hating side of things, with fandumb on the Talimancer side.

Tali is fine. I liked her more in ME1 though, even if she was a walking codex entry then.

magelet wrote...

People call Kaidan whiny. He wasn't. Garrus whined more.

honestly her personality is fine.

but what i dont get is her context in the story. it makes no sense. why does shepard pick up a random quarian on a pilgrimage who has no combat training.is a member of a species who can get serious infections from minor suit ruptures. is a huge liability on the battlefield. plus she's super young and completely inexperienced.

Wrex is a badass krogan merc, that makes sense, some pure brute force.
Garrus is a crafty ex-cop and is a combat expert.
Tali is good with machines? and is naive enough to walk into a PAINFULLY obvious trap.

because shes a mystery. You feel for her cause (well i did at least) and shes shy.those are my reasons. That's y I love this game. I did all the playthroughs Liara, Garrus, Ashley, Kaiden, and there all great but i always go back to Tali.

She might not have combat experience, but she sure can blow salarians to high hell with her tech mines.

I don't know OP people have an unhealthy fascination with her its true, but why.... I suppose it has something to do with her mask.
