Ok so think about this for a moment why is it when an npc uses blood magic they turn into abominations/demons so forth but when the main player hawke or the warden uses blood magic they dont seem to be effected

quote from anders: "you have to look a demon in the eye and eccept"

I thaught at least make the Hawke mage crazy or insane like the other blood mages at least
but I guess having afull fleged blood mage as a main char would be wired for most people, but all I am asking is why dose not HAWKE, tun into an abomination?

Dose lore not effect main chr or what

Well, I think, Hawke is just to awesome to become an abomination, it's one thing that have bugged me ever since Origins though :P

Well, no one even cares if Hawke cuts him/herself in the middle of a crowd so, main char status seems to beat possesion .p

assume it can happen after you see "Your journey ends" ^^
Basicly Blood mage turning into abo is sign of them losing themselves to demon and becoming possesed destroying their body in process. Some do it at the edge of dying others willingly to to achive what they desire.
It would be however awesome if hawke could temporary lose control like Hunter in BG 2 <3

@Att3r0 you have the right idea there maybe Hawke could of been inspired by one of there friends or family in order to revert back to "normal"

What I don't understand is why the templars can't tell blood mages from normal mages. All they have to do is look at their arms. If they are all cut up like junkies then they are either very clumsy, suicidial or blood mages!

Well even jowan (was that his name) kept his mind while resorting to blood magic.

Anyway you learn it by having contact with a demon, but i suppose that as long as you can keep the demon at bay and not fall for his offers of grandeur nothing creepy will happen

I hand wave it by thinking that Hawk's father went into the Fade with him to help him face down a demon like you can with Feynriel.

I just wish they made Blood Magic more useful. It seems to be more for draining the life out of allies or enemies. We should be allowed to raise corpses to fight along side us. That would be so cool.

blood magic in the first one seemed mored tedious then it does here. It seems more refined in this game. I hope they implement more Blood Magic spells

Sometime I wonder in the game, how do mages learn blood magic so quickly in da2?

Do they simply cut themselves?

In DAO, Wynne could call you out once she realises you are using blood magic, and the entire circle of magi would basically turn on you if you failed to convince them.

Sadly, that quest got cut out, and can only be restored with mods, because bioware was worried it would make the blood mage spec seem too undesirable due to the bad consequences. And they apparently kept up the tradition even in DA2.

Seeing NPCs reacting in horror or anger at me using Blood Magic IS the way to go!

Should be powerful or useful enough that it makes the potential consequence of condemnation or fear by NPCs (and companions) seem an allowable risk.

Blood magic is not inherently evil or corrupting. Thats why Hawke and Merril and Morrigan are normal people. The other mages you see are either angry, despirate, or yes abominations.

"but all I am asking is why dose not HAWKE, tun into an abomination?" Because it doesn't work like that...

?? You do play a full fleged blood mage. He/she just isn't crazy. If you assuming insanity is a necessary component for a blood mage then your mistaken my friend.

I think it is odd that every blood mage and his grandma can raise a skeleton, but Hawke is unable to resurrect a dead rabbit even if his life depended on it.

Hawke blood mage tree is garbage compared to Merrill's. No point using it in DA2.

Entire Tevinter Imperium is suppoused to be full of blood mages, guess the reason why they manage it is that they train and practice it openly and not slay every mage outright who even cuts his finger by accident, like in Kirkwall.

Ooo! I did not know that! The only thing from the Circle that was cut was turning Morrigan over to the Templars....
I'll have to get that mod now... I'm a big proponent of story should be >>>> game mechanics (to a reasonable extent) in RPGs... I like it when people in the game hate you for being a class that people hate... Like the extra dialogue in Origins for being a mage! I love it when people are afraid I'd turn them into toads...=]

What annoyed me WAY more than just being able to cast blood magic without any consequence in DA2... was the fact that I just magically knew how to do it at lvl7.... I never had to deal with a demon, like in Origins, nor did I even have to talk (or even have access) to Merrill... I miss having to unlock specs first....

This. I also love demon pets. In Gothic 3 I've always had a huge black demon with flaming sword following me.
