 Hello!

I've looked over several tutorials trying to figure out how to put water in my little hole in the ground and I just can't seem to get it to do anything. They all explain the method pretty much the same way as the next and yet when I go to click down my water it dosn't do anything.

Basically this is the formula I've been trying.

 1. Create a hole in the ground and smooth the banks of it so the edge of the hole is level all around.

 2. Use the eyedropper to select a height just below the bank of the hole.

 3. Select paint and attempt to place water in the hole.

Everytime I hit three nothing happens. I have paint terrain selected as well so it's not that.

Sorry for my ignorence I'm a nOOb and this has been a very frustrating road block for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 EDIT:

Ok I figured it out right after posting this lol. I didn't have the water tab clicked at the top of the toolset...I'm such a nOOb. :crying:

Glad you found your problem. If you start painting water in interiors you will find that you need to place a light source nearby for water to be visible. The light source can actually be a null light, but there has to be a light of some kind. That isn't an issue in exterior areas though.

I think just about everyone has done that while learning the toolset.

Just to add to what Kaldor said, if you have more than 3 lights shining on water, it starts to render strangely.  Torches and darkvision also count, so when building it is best to stop at 2 lights max shining on any given bit of water.
