Okay, I just installed Awakening after beating DA1, and my character is naked at the start of Awakening. He has the armor from the Warden's Keep DLC in DA1, but isnt wearing it at start of Awakening nor does he have it in the inventory.
Any idea what's going on?

Warden's keep armour is DLC only armour, most DLC is not compatible with awakening, and thus dissapears when you start awakening.

The only dlc gear that carries over is anything from Return to Ostagar.
Yes, it sucks, as there are some nice items from the other dlc (dead thaig shanker, harvest festival ring, Starfang, etc.), that I would have kept if they transferred.
In this case, Wade's Superior Dragonbone Plate or Cailan's armor set are nice alternatives, if you have them.

If you are playing on PC, I believe the Dragon Age Nexus has a mod that allows you to move other DLC items over. As I don't own Awakening on the PC myself, I haven't tried it myself.

Use the Juggernaut armor set and you have no problems since it's not dlc.

The mod that sgs1999 does work. There are some draw backs to using it, a couple of the unique items in Awakenings will take on the Starfang moddle instead of their own. So it is kind of pick and choose. If I remember correclty I imported a save and I had on armor and weapons that I had used the Winters Forge on, and they worked. Awakenings was prety buggy last time I played it.

Welcome to the first crack in the Dragon Age series that showed signs of decay. You don't get your statue at Amaranthine if your warden did the Ultimate Sacrifice either. It was easy and cheaper to ignore that import if you wanted you decisions to carry over to Awakenings. And then they tell you if you don't mind supsending reality to play your warden, they don't mind giving him/her to you to play. They took the easy route and throw it in your face for expecting something else.

Blood Dragon Armor, the bonus items from preorders, and The Wardens Keep items are the only things that aren't compatible. On the other hand, certain things can't be imported to the other DLCs from Awakenings while some can.. ALL runes, crafting items, poisons, poultices, and other herablism items transfer as well with the exception of Etching Agents and Blank Rune Stones. By the way I know this because I just finished Awakenings a few days ago and GoA today.

My mage took everything but her cowl off at the beginning of Awakening. Gave a good impression of the new commander.

That sounds... surprisingly kinky.Nuala wrote...

Luckily, custom-built items carry over without problem. If I remember correctly, the only thing missing on my warden were her boots. Which took me ages to even notice - despite my habit of making hitler-cam closeup pictures for my line of savegames. =D

If you have patch 1.04, this shouldn't happen. They added a check that will equip the armor the Orlesian Warden starts with if your character is importing nekkid. If you are on PC, mods to allow your gear to port over obviously work as well.

My character was also naked, but I found her armour in her inventory, just unequipped. I also had all my other DLC items, like the Harvest Festival ring, that I had carried over...

My Warden was naked and weaponless at the start of Awakening. I went from stunned to hysterical in a few seconds. I agree with Nuala, it left a good impression. (It would have been great for morale if people had bother to show up for her entrance.
)
Armour from LS, weapons from RtO. I figured it was some funky DLC import thing & the stuff was in my inventory to be put back on so no biggie. And I am patched to 1.04 so that's just... odd.
