You should not expect an ME4 new genre based game tbh. ME3 will end shepards Story as BW has confirmed, however an ME expansion or DLC would be an excellent idea for a different ME game so in that place there is certainly opportunities for it to appear, an tactical RPG FPS would be epic as an xpac/or ldc for ME with new characters/possible enviroments.

I can see Tactics, Strategy, or FPS for a First Contact War focused game.

Post ME3 Story, I'd prefer MMO. that way they don't have to do too grand of a story, cause after the Trilogy, any story is going to have to compete with the Reaper story which is gonna be... impossible.

It should be called Mass Effect: The Jellyfish Chronicles and it starts out as an RTS game, with hanar shock troopers pushing back the Rachni, and then in the 2nd half of the game, becomes a series of quick time events ala Heavy Rain to cinematically tell the epic story of how one hanar becomes the most feared spectre in the galaxy.....

Mass Effect's RTS is an awesome idea. I'd like to see something looking like Star Wars : Empire At War and/Or the first Dawn of War. something simple but allowing you to do complicated enough stuff to have actual interresting strategic gameplay...

I still want an RPG. And not an MMO. I suppose having large-scale multiplayer would be alright (a couple hundred in a server) but I'd like to be able to enjoy it without the involvement of other dreadful humans.

Oh god I can't even imagine what it would be about.

On a serious note however, I just hope we don't see an RTS or MMO.
I'd suppose more of the same with different stories, better gameplay etc.
It would be a real heartache to not experience the story and the world in the same way ever again.

I really dont want an MMO, they are not my bag. The reason i like Mass Effect is because of the gameplay and the story - i do get the feeling however that they will make an MMO - that'll be the day i bow out of the Mass Effect universe. I cant stand missions that rely on other unreliable people, and bandwidth issues (in New Zealand we have this awesome thing called data caps) will prevent me ever getting into it even if i wanted to.
MMO games tend to fade into niches and then obscurity (bar one), oversaturating the franchise (bar none) and have a very sloppy feel.
Mass Effect as it stands is very tight and the MMO element would kill it - just my point of view. I think they will test the waters with a new game in the series that has a co-op or multiplayer mode before going all out - EA really want to rival Activision in any way they can so you can pretty much guarantee itll happen eventually.
I dont agree however that they cant make a single player story as good as the current trilogy - as someone above posted - there have been plenty of games with less menacing or 'epic' bad guys that ive really enjoyed, and Bioware have the story telling prowess to make anything compelling.

A fighting game.

I have a few ideas for fatalities.

Shepard: A renegade interrupt symbol appears on the screen before Shepard shouts "I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions!" And punches off the victim's head.

Shiala: She seizes her victim, clamps their mouth with her mouth tentacles, forces thorian spores down their throat, and vines explode out of her victim's chest.

Garrus: Kicks his victim in the crotch and the victim falls to to their knees, and than garrus executes the victim with his sniper rifle before leaping into the air shouting "impressive!"

Mordin: Ejects his victim with a syringe filled with a flesh eating virus, and the victim liquifies.

Morinth: Says "embrace eternity" before melding minds, and her victim claws at their face and screams before their head explodes.

Grunt: Headbutts his victim with a sickening crack, and finishes them off with his shotgun.

Also there is a fan made 2d FF style ME game being developed called Mass Effect Chronicles. It's about to go into alpha and you can participate by just registering on the forums and posting on the right topic.

-HELL NO to a mmo!!
-co-op or team based game would work. actually this is what i'd want. the original Ghost Recon style action..maintain the current view though.
-NO to a fps
-yes to a rts....maybe a hybrid of Homeworld and Starcraft
