Its not Tony Danza.  I had the hardest time with that huge spider in the end of the Justice quest and the High Dragon. Not really a boss but i had THE HARDEST time killing all the monsters in the "recently opened passage" in the forbidden knowledge quest (Xebenkeck was pretty dang tough as well).  This was on hard difficulty if it makes any difference to ya. Thanx for reading and giving yer opinions

Xebenkeck. All the other fights were pushovers.  I wish they made the dragon fights difficult.

Well, I'd have to say the High Dragon just because of all the homing fireballs and lesser dragons they throw in. Never had any trouble with Xebenkeck though... maybe playing as a Templar had something to do with it. This was also on Hard btw...

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I think my vote should go to that damned Monstrous Spider in the Deep Roads... it does ridiculous amounts of damage and keeps the person it's attacking staggered to the point where nothing I do can stop it. I mean yeah, Horror will work, but if you are waiting for a cooldown or don't have a character with that spell, it's a big headache. Plus, I hate spiders, so when it lunges and covers the whole screen... I freak out and sometimes die because I can't look at the screen. >.> Shameful, I know... but there it is.

Yeah... M. Spider is the big bad IMO.  On the plus side, the other Monstrous Spiders in the game don't take very long to kill, so it's far less disgusting.

All you have to do with the spider is leave the area it's in and shoot it from the top of the stairs.

Deeps road monstrous spider = move party up staircase, shoot it from up there until spider = dead.
One of the simpler equations. If you were to engage it in melee...that might be a lot tougher.
The good news is that all that desensitising yourself to the fact that spiders can't actually hurt you can help reduce any arachnophobia...though I suppose in the game they can hurt you so not sure what the deal is with that haha

If i were to pick one the hardest fight I would say that one with the ship captains when the bloody raiders decide to join in. Had like three or four enemies jumping in and out of stealth stabbing my guys - and as all my characters are pretty glassy this isn't very nice..

edit: ninja'd :(

Well, I try not to use those kinds of tactics, but I guess that would work... Doesn't really seem fair though.

Avaline with Immovable & upgraded shield defense while shield bashing
Winter's Blast & Chain Lightning make it a very fast fight.

Try Orsino without a healer and only 4 health potions.

So did everyone just miss the part where I mentioned having little trouble against a room full of rage demons, a desire demon boss, and other assorted nightmares?  I'm not saying the game is hard or that I can't get past the spider.  I'm saying that out of all the bosses in the game, this is one of the hardest to deal with.  Hell, I've never even taken Aveline into the Deep Roads...  and for the record, I try to do these battles without any PC deaths, so when that thing targets Hawke and relentlessly attacks while I try to keep him alive, that's when it gets "difficult."

I'd say Xebenkeck is the hardest but he's still a pushover although i play on hard with nightmare stats not a fan of the badly implemented FF in this game<_<

If you pull  Xebenek out the room it's an easy fight.  The area has corridoors for a reason .

Which boss is the hardest depends on the Hawke you pick,  as a Spirit Healer most of act 1 is a easy,  if you take melee Rogue Hawke some fights can be a pain if he is your main DPS.

Brekker is pain with Rogue but hardest I couldn't really say.

It's always nice to see fellow Hard players in this forum among those godlike NM guys :)

Most bosses in the game are rather easy but boring and tedious, in my opinion.

Xebenkeck was hard the first time because I was too stupid to pull all those guys out of the room. After I figured that out it was easy (you can actually run far enough that the battle would stop completely between the waves)

Those two Revenants on Sundermount (Awiergan Scrolls quest I think) can be quite difficult. I'm lucky when I can lure them out one by one, but when I fail to do that it's a pain (or a kitefest). Especially since the latest patch, where Revenants got that stupid Pull back.

Spider in the Deep Roads was no trouble, but the one in Justice kept knocking my rogue down before she could even hit Assassinate. The whole fight was mostly "Here, have an Aveline, why don't you go beat her and let me get up?" But noooo, Hawke's too pretty, spiders like her

As a rogue I had so much pain with Night Lies. Two-handed makes this fight a cakewalk though. But then again, two-handed makes everything a cakewalk (and that's why I don't like it)
I personally find assassins-packed fights like Brekker and Nuncio quite challenging, but that's mostly because I suck.
And of course ship captains with raiders. Oh, they are like That Vorcha Pyro of Dragon Age universe.

I guess I must be doing something wrong because I struggle big style with the rock monster at the end of the deep roads. A non boss fight that causes me problems is during the final part when you are making your way through Kirkwall. You come across a blood mage who appears to be kneeling down, as soon as you approach a pride demon and a load of shades swarm all over you.

Agreed. That part wasn't an easy fight.

Other fights that were hard for me were the ones against the high dragon and Hybris. Though the fights were rather difficult because of the waves of new enemies and not so much because of the high dragon or Hybris in itself.

I had a lot of trouble with the 2 revenants that spawn on Sundermount when you pick up one of those scrolls in act III. I was playing a spirit healer and poor Varric died three times. It took forever.

There was also that elf on the Wounded Coast who wanted to kill the werewolf. I had to reload 3 times before I finally dropped the difficulty down to normal. But I think that was just hard because I was so low level at that point.

The High Dragon because it took so flippin' long is hard just to stay focused on the actual fight.

The problem with all the bosses is that, and this isn't new, the feel like they are almost at the level of being QTE because you just keep repeating the same sequences over and over to beat them.

Ha! :wizard:

For me, those two Revenants were a serious issue. Don't even want to remember how many times my mage died there.

it all depandso n setup and strategy.
On my first NM i went with 2 primal mages to Deep roads - you can imagine how much a kick in the balls it was.
Or Nexus fight with 1 pure tank, pure healer and 2 dps with decent amount of stamina = easily overspawned.

Xebenkeck without pulling is for sure on first place. High dragon /ARW are pain for melee setups. belive thats all.

Never really had much issues with high dragon once you load up on some fire resistance. Xebenkeck sure was a horrible fight for me.. took me ages and a respec to finally manage.. so that takes first place.

Havent faced those duo revenants on my archer yet but we`ll see how thatone goes once we come to it :P

Technically staying in the room with Xebenkeck has got to be the hardest ... but I still have a tougher time on the tedious bosses: rock wraith, high dragon, Orsino. The fights drag on so long (I suppose if I were a better player I would shorten them by doing higher damage! LTP!) that I can’t stay focused. I make a mistake, or two mistakes in a row, and all of a sudden I’m wiping. Once or twice during these fights I’ve even lost the will to play and just turned the game off :)

Hybris for me. I don't really like to go head on with boatloads of baddies - prefer to pull and whale. Hybris, you don't have an option. And I would always get my tank stuck in that damn blue circle.

Hybris. Not so much the thing itself, but the Rage Demon adds that have so far always killed me when I've tried to beat it on Nightmare.

The other fights I've yet to beat on the hardest difficulty are the Ancient Rock Wraith (probably could do it now with the right party, but on my current run I had a very sub-optimal team for that fight) and the Barracks fight against the fake guardsman in Act I. (That's the only one I actually hate. Fake guardsman should not be harder for me to kill than a High Dragon, dammit!)

I confess that I have always pulled Xebenkeck out of the room, because she, too, likes to hang out with Rage Demons.

From experience I'd say the fights are as hard as you make them to be.
