Haven't gone deep into Act 2 yet, so I will say ARW just because of the attrition factor. It's got patterns and all, but the first few times you encounter it, you'll think it's too long and cheap, particularly when you have no tank in the party, and mostly melee.

But when you figure it out, man, it is a glorious feeling bringing him down. On Nightmare too boot.

There are a few fights that give me pause, and most of them are Act II.

Brekker: One of the tougher fights out there because of the large number of elite rogues. This fight really tests one's burst damage and crowd control.

Ser Ulric: This one was always tough for me because the battle area is very "tight". Without a lot of room to spread out, my companions are always in danger of getting slaughtered by a 2h sword talent. Line of sight was also a bit of an issue. Also, without a lot of cold damage in Act II on NM, the Templars are tough to kill. The two hunters were a handful to burn down.

The Xebenkeck and Nexus Golem fights are tough because the spawns just seem endless and again, lacking a lot in the way of cold damage in Act II makes those Rage Demons a tough fight.

The Act I guard pretender fight is a tough one as well, with four waves of stuff spawning inside and outside of the room and no real fire damage (I tend to stay away from the elemental tree in NM). In retrospect, I should have leveraged fire staves more often in that fight.

I do agree with Ser Ulrik fight and would like to add Templar Bounty Quest in act II Sundermount to the list nickan1022 posted.

I suppose many overlook that fight just because they side with mages and don't get access to the quest.

As a melee warrior its definitely ARW.

A fight that I found extremely hard to was the Secret Rendevouz fight in the docks.
I found Night Lies easy, but Secret Rendevouz gave me a lot of trouble..

And also of course the Nexus Golem fight

On nightmare, I would say it's between Xebeneck(sp?), Brekker and the blood mage on the top of Sundermount in Act 2 for Bounty Hunters. Maybe it's cause I don't have the greatest spike damage on this runthrough, but that fight was hard with 4 elites I think at the same time. Guess it depends on how you play each fight. After one try of not kiting Brekker and Xebeneck on nightmare my first time, I gave up on not using that tactic.

I find Hybris to be a walk in the park in comparison.

Yes,both of those revenants(who even have names) are boss level at least.

Hardest? Ancient Rock Wraith.

Most aggravating? Arishok duel.

ARW is just long. Quite simple mechanics really.

Not really a boss, but the hardest fight for me had to be the Guard Pretenders during Act 1.

I for one can see the mechanics I just can't stay alive long enough at hard and nightmare.

Post patch he seems to have "fixed" his shield phase, it appears he has a version of Elemental Aegis.

Hybris was actually quite simple after i found out dispell works on him to keep that fire off him. on normal difficulty i am trying to play through without dying (getting injured) and had to reload a couple times (quite a few to be honest) fighting Xebenkeck without pulling out of (what she said) the room. Playing on normal after beating the game on hard makes you get quite a big head. On hard the ancient rock wraith was very difficult on normal he hardly had anytime to actually fight me i wooped him so bad he would phase to the middle where he shoots lighting everywhere became vulnerable then went back to the middle for his lightning everywhere attack again, i impressed myself. The beast that looks like Orsino in DA:O was the toughest but now i am getting off topic. I really had no problem with Orsino. Looking like Xebenkeck is winning with high dragon in second place then the dual Revenants in third thanx everyone keep posting

Yeah, the two (or three?) Revenant fight on Sundermount was a tough one. Here I thought Revenants were a bunch of wimps in DA2.

All you have to do with the spider is leave the area it's in and shoot it from the top of the stairs.

How this made it into the final game I'll never know.

The 2 reverant fight is probably the hardest.

The dalish assassin on the wounded coast in Act 1 is actually damn tough since you dont have the best talents yet.

It mostly depends on the composition of the party. However, as a general rule, Xebenkeck is probably the most powerful boss and if you stay in the room it surely is.

For spiders and other sub-bosses you don't need cheap tactics. They can be paralyzed, slowed and whatever, so it is easy to affront them. The only bosses that cannot be affected by these things are the High Dragon, Xebenkeck and Hybris.

What makes Xebenkeck more difficult is the mole of the spawns in the fight. Other either much more difficult bosses taken by themselves don't have this component, and, if you stay on the room it is difficult to find a way to paralyze or slow them without affecting the party, so you have to fight them almost without aids.

The Ancient Rock wraith or the high dragon...they prove that Dragon Age II hasn't dumbed itself down in difficulty at least. The ARW was pretty fun to fight and honestly no matter how many side quests you do or what items you have your still unprepared for how long and for some people hard that fight is...

Good to know they are actually difficult in 1.02, with Mass Pull restored. I should really make a solo instructional vid.

Just fought these 3, pulling them all at the same time. It was so fun that I reloaded and did it again. Then I had to check and make sure it was Nightmare, which made me laugh. So, I reloaded and did it again.

Btw their pull is ff, they will actually pull just the corpse boss if you move at the right time. I did this and threw a WG at the one pulling and hit both as the corpse hit the rev.

mass pull can 1 shot glass cannon so its kinda nice but i wouldnt say its anything hard.
grab them with tank spread out and kill. WB on corpse takes 2/3 of their HP then some stragger CL and they eat dirt.
Probably easier on rogue where you can just assasinate one of them.
