If i'm a warrior: Leliana, Wynne and Morrigan (2 mages, 1 rogue and 1 warrior)
If i'm a rogue: Pick Sten (or Orghen), Wynne and Alistair.
If i'm a mage: Morrigan, Leliana and Alistair.
Who do I forgot? Zevran? Hee hee, In fact I don't need him much, he can stay in the camp, drink water or do whatever he want, I just pick him up in some case for have more fun in combat.
Shale? I don't use him usually, in some special case I will use him as a substitute for Alistair.
Why Leliana so much? She can pick lock and disarm trap!!! More over her captivating song will be invaluable when I'm heavily outnumbered with the melee attack!!!
Wynne? Of course, don't travel so far without the doctor's present!!!!
Morrigan is the best nuker, let her spam her spell!!!
Orghen or Sten: I need some heavy hitter in my squad, they are great candidates.
Alistair: a good tank with his pre-built shield talent.

I rarely ever take Morrigan out of my team (and surprised by the posters saying they never use her). I give her a few healing spells, and barely ever use her shapeshift ability.
I find she's not only incredibly powerful and dangerous, but has a fantastic character and is visually appealing to boot. Infinitely more interesting than Wynne or Leliana.
