they could make the character customization pop up right at the beginning and also who cares about standard military haircuts give us more choices and make the haircuts look less like plastic hair glued together

They should give us an option to change hairstyle, make up and facial hair in captain's quarters. Which is what they should have had since ME1.

I just might go bat**** crazy if there aren't any more/better hairstyles for Shep in ME3 - all the lame excuses about Shep not having long hair because she is a soldier just went out the window now that we know Ashley will have it.

I support this. In real life people can get tan, colored lenses for eyes, change hairstyle, change makeup and shape of the eyebrows whenever they want. I don't see why Shep can't do the same.

And if some need ingame reason for change of appearance, think back to the ME1. If you choose to make custom Shepard, the VI said that your profile data is corrupted and you have to reconstruct it manually. So, they could do the same for ME3. If you don't choose imported face, the system will say that the data is corrupted, so you have to reconstruct it yourself.

Then, later in the game you can use medbay upgrade/your bathroom to change your face/makeup and hairstyle.

As for long hair, I don't think "you're in the army" argument is valid. In ME1 Shepard becomes a Spectre at the beginning, so s/he is not bound by the regulations anymore. In the second game Shep is abroad corporate ship, not military one, so regulations don't apply there. And in the third game Shep is a criminal on trial, so regulations don't apply here either.

If you want to roleplay your Shepard as a soldier to the bone, so go ahead, keep short hair and be happy with it. It's not like someone is forcing long hair on you. And if I want my femShep to look like Barbie and my manSheps to look like a hippie, why not?

Given that your shep looks like he does due to the crappy customization system in ME1, I am all for this. Mod what I import so it comes closer to what I initially wanted.

Improving of the current textures is a certain top priority for hair. Especially on femshep. There is a reason too why people mod the game for hair. There needs to be far more variety.

Like it was said, just add the option. There is no need for an excuse.
I say that because even in ME2 it didn't make sense. Miranda, Jacob e TIM talk about resurrecting you exactly how you were, and changing your appearance doesn't fit in that story. Nor does Tali suddenly recognizing you in the beginning if you changed your face.

Shepard's death was an excuse to force you to work with Cerberus.

This is so true. The hair textures are bad, they look either like plasticine or greasy. And there is next to no variety. I'd like a few more hairstyles that are practical without being severe. For an example, like Morrigan's hair from DAO, Merrill's from DAO/2, or the hair option in DA2 where you can have the top half tied back and the lower half loose. That sort of thing. Practical, yet attractive.

I think it would be cool to be able to change your hair and stuff and to tweak stuff if the import is off, but full redo i don't think i'd even do it, though I guess some would so it might be ok to have.

She even recognizes you if you are wearing a full-face covering helmet.  Really lame.

They better honestly it's a single player game if you get all upset that it doesn't make since in the story if they do this well boo hoo. Taking away the option to try out the new character creator (who knows it might have improvements) on existing shepards because it wouldn't make since is stupid.

although I doubt any improvements are going to be made on the character creator so that means I'd stick to sheploo :(

Also true, if nothing else, my black femSheps tend to have shaved heads because the other styles seriously don't suit them.

I think the colors didn't import well in ME2 or something. My characters eyes turned purple and hair a weird red.

I blamed Miranda for not putting me back together right and never romanced her.

Anyway, I agree. I'd like to tweak the character a tad on ME3 import.

Something I wish they'd add is different bodies. Nothing major, like fat or short (in fact, different heights might be more trouble than they're worth), but at least "slender", "normal" and "athletic" physiques to choose from would be cool.

Oh dear god this.

Though not an issu I feel for most "hero" characters, I am getting sick to death of the fact that in like 99% of games we never see people with different proportions - you know, like in real life?

Especially in RPGs it seems like most devs think - "Well, we made male and female models, just change to textures and we're done right?"

"WROOOONG!"

When I look at Hawke's mom in Dragon Age 2 it's obvious she's just a slightly older face on the female body of a twenty year old woman - it's disconcerting to say the least. Look at some of the characters in ME, and it's exactly the same.

Colonel Tigh in the Citadel, should probably have more weight to him - he's older, and not able to be as trim as a younger officer - happens to us all. But no, he has "standard male body" with old guy head.

I want to see some devs get along the Rockstar Games boat - Red dead redemption hat tall skinny guys, fat guys, plump women, spindly old folks, men of 3 or 4 noticably differing heights and breadth (without being truly "thin" or "fat" just average). Why is does it often seem like they're one of the few devs who gets this aspect of world building?

Yeah I've been on a couple of threads where this has been brought up. I whole heartedly agree.

Not changing your face after generation - fine, I can see that. But beard and makeup? That's what your bathroom in your quarters should be for. As for hair - Barbershop on the citadel.  Ideally with funny dialogue fomr the alien/robot styling your hair.

Plus, this would be a good way to include non-default hairstyles with subsequent DLC and updates later, and gets to be a small money sink.

I hope the Character Creator is like APB or EVE. Also, I don't need a plot reason to customize shep. Just let me do it.
