I dunno, I just get tired of the hate for the...I guess you could call them "average joes" characters. They're a breath of fresh air from time to time when you're surrounded by "the best of the best."

I've bolded the part you seem to have ignored in order to just re-state the same baseless claim.

I hear you.  :(  The vitriol towards any character (human, alien, average, awesome, whatever) can grow wearisome.

Okay, time to get it back on track (at least for a little while)...

Kaidan struck me as more cautious than naive in ME1; he seemed unimpressed with the Citadel's and Alliance's refusal to acknowledge a legitimate threat.  Maybe Shepard's death and the subsequent cover up will make Kaidan more decisive and out spoken?  He's probably still a goody-goody (not being derogatory) though.

After working a few years in a truly intergalactic community, I hope Ashley has learned how to be a bit more reflective and guarded in her opinions - social situational awareness, if you will.  Many individuals of alien species do not completely trust another species;  Ashley's main problem in ME1 was she'd voice an understandable and commonly-held view without considering the audience.  She still needs to keep her strong sense of purpose and willingness to make tough calls though.

Edit: grammar

Very good point about being more cautious, and I agree now that I think about it.

You are so right about the social situational awareness!! I think of the two characters Ashley has the most potetial for growth because of that particular part of her personality. I'm looking forward to seeing where the writers take her.

You criticize Ash for Shooting Krogan in the back, but thane's PLAN for Krogan tartget is "bomb" Ash need 4-5 rounds to put a Battlemaster down. I say that makes her pretty badass. I want that in a spectre so I've just proven your point wrong.Image IPB

Riiight. Because being a soldier is all about honorable, one-on-one duels. Especially in the future.  God forbid people launch an ambush, snipe an enemy at range, or shoot an armed opponent from behind before they can react (i.e. shoot your ass right back).

I don't get why people get so mad about Kaidan/Ash becoming Spectre, especially after ME2 where Shepard's Spectre status was revoked. He/she only gets it back by being Paragon, and even Anderson said it is only a symbolic gesture at most.

My renegade Shepard told the Council to shove their Spectre title. I don't need it,
I can save the galaxy just fine without that stupid and  useless title, and it has the added bonus of the Council not pestering me every single time I complete a mission.

It will be interesting to see Kaidan and Ash's personalities change once they become Spectre, especially Ash she has always been rather independently minded.. In ME2 they have demonstrated that they will put the Alliance above any other loyalty, even Shepard's. They could even end up as antagonist for renegade Shepard if he/she keeps antagonizing the Alliance.

Just because they're Spectre doesn't mean they're bettter. Shepard is stilltop dog and every single squad under me is better then Ash and LT combined. I ain't taking no **** from some greenhorn turned Spectre.

If YOU wish to ignore what Jack and Samara can do so be it. Lore trumps gameplay. They limited talents to make each companion different. The game would be super easy otherwise.  I've seen no indication that Kaidan is a biotic badass. Above average, yes, but not on the level of Jack, Liara, or Samara. He's more of a Miranda-level biotic. Unlike ME2, ME1 had no limitations. Liara is just as badass as a adept Shepard.

Shepard (biotic) was an L3 in ME1 and he was still stronger then Kaidan's L2 implant.

Joker could kill Shepard. It's possible.

"Shep killed Soveriegn. Shep > Soveriegn in the fist fight."

That's the kind of vibe I'm getting from you people.

FACT: Anyone who says Ashley > Wrex is trolling.

Wrex is objectively superior to Ashley, combat wise.

Dude: pay attention.  How is it you've twice managed to not notice I said they can of course do it.  The issue is your double standard: despite neither being able to do it in gameplay or in cutscenes, you still say they can.  But when you've got the exact same thing with Kaidan, suddenly you've decided it's impossible.  How do you know he can't?  How do you know Miranda isn't strong enough for that matter?  How much biotic strength is required for a singularity, exactly?  There is ZERO lore that rules any of the biotic squadmates out.  All we can say is that they don't have that on their ability list.  All else is supposition and guesswork.

If you label others as a certian T word because they don't believe what you want to believe than your arguement bears no merit. I highly suggest you rethink, in the future, how to word your post Darkhour. At the moment all you're doing is inviteing trouble and coming off as too aggressive which will start unneeded fights.

Joker: Shoots at an immobilized ship once after swattingh around like a fly doing nothing.

Shepard: Forces a suicide and kicks the ass of a robotic zombie monster that has Spider Man's powers and then gets Reaper crap fall on him and he only gets a broken arm.

Huh.....
