like the the title says my mass effect 2 game has been freezing a lot lately. Ive tried clearing my cache, deleting all my dlc content and putting it back on but it still freezes seemingly at random could be any where between 20 minutes to an hour. Ive also checked my HD its solid no other game has problems just this one. Id like to be able to sit down and play thru my time but it always ends in freezing. This problem is only been a recent one im thinking its either the new update or the DLC arrival i cant be sure.

Uncertain what one can do with respect to the freezing problem (I usually just switch off and load up again).
Arrival does seem to cause quite a few problems since its release; it could be that.
You also mention a new update; I would ask: what sort of update? For ME2 or the 360 itself?
If for ME2 I would suggest clearing the cache again and run the game without the update to see if it works. (Play offline to confirm perhaps.)
Hopefully others have more to add to the subject.

im pretty sure it was ME2 update and i already cleared the cache and redownloaded it as for playing offline to see i cant play my saved games then cause they all have DLC and REQUIRE online for some reason or it voids the save

That's odd. Games should work offline (I play exclusively offline except for having to download a new dlc and even then I unplug my connection).
May I ask whether you've had to change 360s before? Not being able to use dlc offline suggests to me a sympton of not having done the license migration and/or recovering the Gamertag on the console.

Ah...you see, XBox 360 dlcs are tied with Gamertags and consoles. But...that's a different issue to the one you're seeking advice on.
For the dlc thing I would still recommend recovering your Gamertag. The symptoms you mention, not being able to play offline, is reminiscent of the Gamertag not belonging to the console; hence dlcs can only be accessed while the Gamertag is online. Recovering the Gamertag will move the rights to your current 360 (they are still tied to your old one); so that should clear up the not being able to play offline problem.
However...I have no additional insight to the freezing problem which you requested help with. Hopefully someone else knows better.

to cover all bases i did a gamer tag recovery and then did a license migration and as a result i can now play offline so im gonna try and play without the recent update and see if the freezing still occurs.
