I may have been playing the game too much.
However in many scenes central to the story there are usually one helmeted faceless companion to a character central to this game or it's sequals.

I'm just wondering if these are going to be ret con'd later on into new characters or PC's even.

Stroud has a warden companion / bodyguard usually in frame with him.
Meredith often / always has a templar escort.
A guard or two close to Aveline.

Writting it out now it seems foolish, but I just can't get over these event scenes.
Especially the Stroud ones, with Carver and Bethany in the Wardens dropping hints about the future it just screams "suprise" to me.

Helmetless warriors are usually pros at what they do, and more likely than not someone relevant to the story in one way or another.

Same goes for Mass Effect as well: It's mostly only the merc captains that don't have their helmets on and they're usually the only ones you can talk with.

I found it irritating, especially with the Wardens in the Deep Roads using the same character models as Javaris' mercenaries, Bartrands guards, common street thugs, etc. Maybe if this game didn't recycle textures, models, environments, and so on to hell it would be tolerable.

Not to mention that they looked like generic Power Ranger baddies.

Compare that to the random Grey Wardens accompanying Duncan in the Dwarven Noble origin:

It's possible but I doubt it. I suspect this is more a case of resource recycling.

Well, the darkspawn DO seem to resemble Putty Patrollers this time around, so...

Don't remind me...   :pinched:

Flemeth's new design is only marginally less gaudy than Rita Repulsa...

Yeah, faces! In game with extremely limited customisation options, where only two characters have any unique features to speak of!

Oh wait, that's not impressive at all.

It beats no face at all, in a Halloween costume that would make Super Sentai villains blush.

I would normally dismiss this but I think there's some precedence for this kind of thing happening. Carver, Aveline and non-mage Hawke were all part of Cailan's army and replaying the Ostagar cutscenes in DAO has me now wondering which of the helmeted soldiers is our future protagonist.

So, not a crazy theory and a good way to add new characters while "integrating" them into the existing storyline.

Ooh, maybe I shouldn't have annoyingly ran around that guy with the face concealing helmet on for 5 minutes. Or better yet maybe LadyHawke is that woman Daveth was hitting on before you talk to him, she was helmeted right?

Even if the characters looked like they were attending a Gay Pride Parade, I'd still vastly prefer it to Origins, where my armor choices essentially boil down to whether I want rust or puke.

I'm not sure what's funnier:  That you think DA2 is more detailed or colorful than Origins, or the fact that most of the weapons and armors in DA2 are recycled from Origins.

Be careful though, you are getting close to the line where funniness ends and sadness begins.

Posted Image, nope a redhead, it would be great if they did go back and make her Hawke though.
I spent ages looking again at the DA:O movies trying to spot if any were used in DA:2.

Everytime I watch the DA:2 scenes though the helmeted characters seem to be central to the characters, how they act and react to the characters and small gestures.
