Good evening all.

I recently purchased DA Ultimate Edition from EA's download store, and played a bit before discovering there is a patch to apply. I downloaded and applied the 1.04 patch, but when I attempted to start the game an error message came up. I'm afraid I can't recall the exact wording, but it told me I had to reinstall the game.

Rathet frustratingly, this involves having to re-download the entire package, so I am keen to avoid it happening again. Does anyone have an idea of why applying the patch caused this to happen, and how I can apply it successfully?

Good day, I am currently re-downloading the ultimate edition myself. After registering the game and bonus content from the digital download correctly, the game had several unauthorized game content files. I found the 1.04 patch and downloaded it and installed it. When the game was started, the game was found corrupted and requested a re-install. It took 14 hours last night and at&t is going to usage charges in my area for anything over 150gig a month. Kinda costly. I'm hoping i don't have to download a third time.

Ultimate Edition comes with the 1.04 patch currently installed. I would recommend NOT trying to reinstall it. A few folks have reported problems concerning this.

Since you have Ultimate Edition and thus all the available DLC, nothing should be telling you that a patch is needed, unless a) you have some pretty elaborate mods installed, or B) there's some issue with your original installation.

Thanks Raen. I couldn't find any indication as to whether it was already patched, should probably have looked a bit harder. Re-install looks fine.

Traifin - I had that problem initially, I think running the Updater program fixed it. There's a big thread at the top of this forum related to this issue.

For the record, to find your version of DAO, go to the launcher and select "configure". On the pop-up interface, select "game". Refer to the version number for DAOrigins.exe... other exe files will have different version numbers, which is normal.

I've suggested that for the next patch, the devs add the version number to the splash screen, like DA2.

Foolish me installed the patch 1.04 before seeing the post here. So far the main game is running fine except for occasional crashes. What should I do now?

Assuming you applied the patch to a UE install, I would re-install (you can save your characters).

Tks, is there any way to just uninstall the patch?

I'm worried of authorization issues, that I see posted in the forum, after I re-install.I'm already 50% through the game.

If you haven't had authorization issues with your current setup you are unlikely to develop them. If you do, there are solutions to the possible problems in the solutions round up thread. There is no way to roll the patch back for you without a reinstall.

Thanks. I'll try to finish my current game before reinstalling.

Ok, I've finally completed DAO successfully without having to reinstall to remove the extra 1.04 patch. Thanks sami jo.

Now I'm going to start Awakening. After browsing through the forum, I'm sor of feeeling overwhelmed with so many threads on the bugs and fixes.

But before I go foolishly and update my DAO:UE again, I think I better seek professional advice here.

So, do I need to download all those fixes for Awakening? If yes, what are the critical fixes that are needed.

Thanks.

There is a list of fix mods in the community fix it thread. Personally, I would use the Silverite mine fix, one of the Sigrun fixes and either a fix for the final joining or do the Blackmarsh last. Awakening has far more critical unpatched bugs than DAO.

Tks, sami jo. I just download those fixes mentioned by you.

Rgdg the fixes installation, do i put the whole unzipped folder into the overide folder? or jsut the files in the unzipped folders?

Is there a main thread listing all the critical fixes for Awakening? So far I've to browse many threads.

Tks again.

There is a list of DAO/DAA fixes compiled here that is pinned to the top of this forum: http://social.biowar...index/7438366/6. There may be other fixes out there, but these were the ones that were recommended here.  For example, I know there is a mod that fixes the Vigilance texture if you also have Warden's Keep installed, but I don't use it and no one has listed it yet.  I have linked the page of the thread on which I listed all the mods recommended to that point and the known issues with each. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only list of pure fixes on the forum.

As for installation, most of the mods go in the override folder. A few are dazips and need to be installed using daupdater.  Every mod should have installation instructions on the linked page and in a readme file.

I salute you. I was reading the Community Fixit thread, and had to take 2 paracetamol for the headache. Been reading them since this morning.

Actually, I'm very glad n grateful to all the contributors of the fixes. It's just that there's so many fixes and some are incompatible.

I wish Bioware will really step up their game and release patch 1.06 to solve all these issue.

Hi sami jo,
1) Do these 3 fixes do the same thing?
Sigrun's Roguish Past and Law and Order fix: (http://social.biowar...m/project/3129/)
Alternative Version of Sigrun's Roguish Past Fix: (http://dragonagenexu...ile.php?id=3001)
Law and Order Fixes: (http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=3046)

2) And is this the fix for what you were mentioning on final joining/blackmarsh:

Joining Ritual Fix for Awakening Companions: (http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=2997)

@bhtanson: For the first, to the best of my knowledge they all fix the same questline. I have only used one of them (the first one) so I cannot do more than re-iterate what the mod descriptions say. And yes, the second was the one I was mentioning.

@Skilly024: Check the solutions round-up thread pinned to the top of this forum first. If you do not find anything applicable or if you require assistance with one of the linked solutions, please see the read first thread also pinned to the top of this forum for posting guidelines. No one can assist you based on the information you have provided thus far. Keep in mind that this is a peer support forum and there are relatively few of us who pop in to offer help.

Tks, sami jo.

Btw,in Origins, the ZDF patch causes the ending scene to loop at where I'm suppose to exit the hall and the credits rolls. I removed it and it went back to ending normally.

If English isn't your birth language, you need to choose a better translation site to work with. If you were born to English as your first language, I have to say that it's my opinion you should be very, very ashamed of yourself  for that last example.

This is not an official anything here.  It's regular people, and no one here is being paid to help.  It is gamers looking for suggestions from other gamers, exactly as described in the top banners of all the forums here.   EA is the only official support. Complain, and curse, if you must, at them, not here, at us, if you must vent at anyone anywhere.

I suggested that you first check the solutions round up thread, AND IF YOU DID NOT FIND A SOLUTION to go to the read first thread for posting instructions as you did not provide enough information for anyone to assist you. We are all volunteers here, not BW or EA staff. Scream all you like, but being rude will not get you help. Providing enough information in a clear way will get you help.

This need to be fixed.. if the EA / BioWare can`t fix there games, they shouldn`t be making games in the first place.

I would recommend NOT trying to reinstall it.

IMO, it's almost guaranteed to screw things up if you do this.

No experienced member knows whether there really is any problem at all when people such as yourself make comments containing nothing beyond hot air.  If you also patched when no patch was needed, you must now reinstall.  Period.  Beyond that, problem diagnostics cannot be performed in either a vacuum or an empty balloon.  It is just so simple, and yet so many are expecting the resident members to be magically claivoyant, when we most certainly are not.
