I am pretty sure that someone on this forum must have mentioned this in the past, but I was playing ME1 again a few days ago, and I was on Noveria. I realized that when I went over to the door that leads to Benezia, I could hack it. I had never seen this before on a previous playthrough, so I did it, and everyone turned on me as usual. After killing Benezia, I went to the tram to go back to the Normandy. It gave me a message saying that the situation was unresolved since I hadn't gone down to the hot labs, but I decided to leave anyway. It registered it as a mission complete, so There are still hundreds of Rachni down there. Well, its Noveria's official's problem now.

Yes, that happens. Yet people seem to think you have killed all the Rachni. The Turian councilor still accuses you of comitting genocide as if you had killed them all.

@ Nyoka
Aren't his accusations more about the queen? Killing the crazy Rachni doesn't matter to anyone, but killing the species' only hope of survival is counted as genocide.

No, the councilor says "wipe them out" as in "you've killed every one that was left". Besides, genocide is killing a lot. I just killed a few. There are still a helluvalot of them in Noveria, in the hot labs. The councilors can clone them if they love the Rachni so much.

Just not the presumably last Rachni Queen, which if seems to be the only real source of population capable of revive an amount of population that could maintain its numbers.
