Well they did give us girls sebastian....maybe they'll give you a chaste romance. A qunari women that's like "I'd have sex with you, but the force would probably kill you"
"Us girls"? I'm confused, do most people pick a Hawke of their own gender and romance the opposite gender? I don't see what the romance options have to do with your own gender, but maybe that's just me because I like playing both genders equally and prefer gay romance options anyway. It's just weird to lump a gender group together because all my friends who play Dragon Age have first played as the opposite gender anyway!

I guess it's mainly cuz he can only be romanced by girls. So he isn't a gay option. And I figured mostly girls played girls, guess I shoulda phrased that better.

...Yes?
I'm pretty sure that's the standard operating procedure for most people, at least for the first time through the game.

I'd argue that there is a good amount of people who don't. Like I said, pretty much everyone I've met played opposite gender... ALL the guys I talk to, in any game where you can pick gender, pick female. And yeah, most of them are straight. My understanding is that this is really common for guys to pick girls, even if just for sex appeal. My female friends who play DA also tended to pick male characters in both games, but that might have something to do with them being yaoi fangirls...
At any rate, it doesn't really matter. Each romance option is just a romance option, not "for the boys" or "for the girls."
I wouldn't say no to another female romance option, though, back to the thread's title. I'm all for more romance options. Though, if Bioware is going to take a look at the romance options, what I'd really prefer is extended sex scenes...

Well, I personally also frequently pick to play as a girl in games where it's an option, so it's not uncommon or anything. Just that in my experience, the majority of people will play as their own gender and romance somebody relevant to their own sexuality (which, since 90% or whatever of the population is straight, generally means the opposite gender) at least for their first time through. And that tends to inform how you look at the various characters as being "for the guys" or "for the girls".
DA2 was actually an aberation for me, since I played as FemHawke the first time through. Still romanced Merrill, though.

I know that Aveline's flirt dialogue isn't exclusive to male Hawkes and that Sebastian's gets much closer to something resembling a relationship, but you could flirt pretty extensively with Aveline in a way you can't with any other non-LI females in the game. In a lot of ways, I took Sebastian to be Aveline's counterpart in terms of "pseudo-LI that we can flirt with but not have it go anywhere". (I know, I know, there's a lot of flirt dialogue that goes nowhere--you can even flirt with Varric once or twice--but Aveline does seem to have a LOT of flirt dialogue, especially in her Act 2 quest.)
So basically, the male-to-female LI ratio is already balanced. We have 2 proper LIs per gender and 1 semi-LI that goes nowhere. That's just my interpretation, of course. I have a feeling I may be in the minority.

Technically Sebastian is not a romance option. I'm not even referring to his lack of a romance scene or a comforting scene. Even if he invites Hawke to join him in nunhood or hint at a possible union between the Prince and Viscountess, doesn't his Gallows dialogue indicate that that isn't going to happen? In that sense, he's about as much of a male romance option as Aveline is a female one.

I agree with you at least. I, for one, don't count Sebastian as an LI. He's more of a ...Flirty interest

Also on to the whole Sebastion/Aveline topic I personally thought that Aveline would have been a great proper Love Intrest and I am in the minority of Fans of Avelines who would gladly romance her if she was available.
Sebastion is not really a Love Intrest in my opinion I don't see any romance between Hawke and him working at all because of his devotion and loyalty to the Chantry and the Maker the only way I could see this working would take serious Character Changes and I don't see That happening at all.
Also someone mentioned Shale as a possable LI but I don't see that happening either remember I don't think Bioware will add any Human/Dwarf Romance Options either because they don't want to or the extra work on them remember all of Varrics devoted Fans raged when he was confirmed not a LI so I don't see any Dwarf Romances but Bioware could surprise us so.
I personally say If any New Love Intrests are added they will Either be Human or Elves so but an Qunari Romance would be intresting.
How about Anora that would be intresting either she is Queen or married to The Warden/Alistair or she's Inprisoned after Origins Bioware could bring her back.

About half the gamers I interact with are queer. Should I then argue that the majority of gamers are gay or bisexual? Most of my friends are young adults, white, liberal, and college-educated. Poor Donnic.
Just a little bit competition and I'm decent enough to yield the floor to Donnic if she would still choose him.

Sebastian is not a real Love Interest!
He's a PRIEST first of all, so even if you rival him, you would be married to a man who WONT SLEEP WITH YOU EVER. Wtf is that? There is no woman on earth or thedas who would want a man who wont touch her. Anyone who thinks they do, are lieing to themselves ;p
He's a pretty accent wrapped in well-constructed-digital-eyecandy that you can flirt with. That trollfaces you at the end of the game.
Ugh!
