So, why did Greg Ellis not voice Anders but did voice Cullen?

Seriously, though, I don't know, that's a good question. Cullen may have become a more important character but Anders was still a party member and not only that, to some degree the real protagonist of DA2. So you would think they'd prefer to keep him with his original voice.

This. I like Anders. But I really, really liked Awakening Anders. Glad they didn't really mess up Nathaniel Howe.

Speaking of Nate, did they change his voice too? He also sounds different from what he did in Awakening.

Nope, IMDb still lists Simon Chadwick.

I want to see more of him. But not if they're going to change him completely à la Anders.

About Anders; I think Adam suits him just fine, considering the personality shift. I always thought Awakening Anders was too much of an Alistair doppelganger. As if they'd pasted Alistair's face/character traits and slapped on the name 'Anders'. DA2 at least gives him his own identity. Still, I hope Greg Ellis returns for DA3 as Cullen, but with a major role and more work to undertake.

Frankly, I love the "new Anders" precisely because he's evolved from "old Anders." It shows how he's changed from this happy-go-lucky goofy guy (who admittedly probably already had a problem or two) into this dark, anxious, obsessed guy. It's interesting because it's such a contrast.
It's only annoying because we technically meet Anders for the first time only a couple months after Awakening and he's already changed so much. It's a shame Bioware didn't actually do something with their unnecessary time gaps between Acts and illustrate Anders' procession more. If they showed how Anders changed and altered his appearance a bit with more stubble and wrinkles, that alone would have made the time gaps brilliant. I almost feel like the story is about Anders at times more than it is about Hawke, beneath the surface of it all.

It's weird since Greg Ellis himself said he had no idea why he wasn't voicing Anders on his facebook page. That said, I prefer Adam Howden as Anders.

I prefer Anders voice in DA2 as well. Much better than Awakenings. Great voice. Love it.

Thirded. I love Ellis as Cullen, but I much prefer Howden's Anders.

I'm playing Origins again and when I heard Anders' (Adam) voice when I met the prisoner at Ostagar, I couldn't help but shank him.
LOL. I didn't realize that was him, but now that I think about it...

He just has a bit of a cold, that's all. It's made his voice hoarser.

I hated Anders's new voice actor. He sounded to whiny to me
Problems with Anders character (like him or not) have nothing to do with his voice.

I totally agree! I loved Greg Ellis as Cullen. I have always thought that Cullen should have had a bigger role in DA:O, so I was really pleased when the DA writers brought him back for DA2. I hope they give him an even bigger role in upcomimg DA games.
I went back and played Awakenings after DA2 and I must admit, that I really do l like the "new" Anders much better. Well, except I did miss the old Anders' humor... but I did like his new voice better.
It's kind of wierd, but when I went back and saw the Awakenings Anders again, an image of the singer George Michaels, popped in my head for some strange reason.

I agree. Cullen is a great character. You saw him grow quite a bit, if you played Origins and Dragon Age 2, and develop as a character. I'd love to see Cullen as a companion in a sequel or an expansion, he'd be an extremely opinionated character that would without a doubt stir up controversy between other party members and/or the PC and himself.
