I would just like to share this poll I spotted on another forum regarding the potential candidates for the honor of obtaining the title of 2011 GOTY. The poll is conducted away from game specific forums hence I believe to contain less bias. I think you will find the results to be quite interesting:

edit: I am not attempting to trash DA2 by starting this thread. I am simply trying to show the general consensus of the game away from bias. At the time of this posting, approximately 1000 posters have participated in the poll.

On the first page the poll starter already regrets putting in Dragon Age 2 as he's hounded by the "why Dragon Age 2 but no Skyrim, TW2, LA Noire or Deus Ex 3?" comments.

Anyways, isn't Escapist the site that gave Dragon Age 2 a perfect score?

Ahh...

Bottom Line: A pinnacle of role-playing games with well-designed mechanics and excellent story-telling, Dragon Age II is what videogames are meant to be.

Indeed.

As for my GOTY contenders, I don't know. We won't know until the games come out, but the usual suspects are Skyrim, Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 amongst the majority of the gaming community.

Not a chance, and it's interesting to see that the poll has ME3 already miles ahead of DA2, though it's months from being released. I take polls witha grain of salt anyway, but I know this. DA2 won't be in but just a few site's top ten contender lists for GOTY, except on the sites (like the one you give here) that gave it undeserving high scores.

While I really like DA2 I'm not naive enough to think that it will have any chance of winning any GOTY. The flaws are just to apparent.

No chance. Maybe it will get for best story, if by some miracle TW2, Skyrim and ME3 won't be as good (yea right  )

Hell yeah. ME3 will be 2011 GOTY. I am sure of it. 

If not, I will sell my gaming pc and never touch another game.

DA 2 has little chance of winning that, especially with some of the biggest contenders not even listed.

To top it off, it's on "escapist". Atm, I'd rather believe the "National Enquirer", than anything that site puts out.

Well, except for Yahtzee. Even if only for the comedy value.

Minecraft is more likely to win in that poll - as pointed out there is already regrets about adding in DA2 in the list.

Strange that the poll also added Killzone 3, not that I dislike the game any, but GOTY?

Portal 2 is also a great contender. I honestly loved every bit of that game.
It was fun, made me laugh and made me feel smart at the same time =P

So we are told. They posted a misleading review too, factually incorrect I have no reason to believe anything they claim.

I know.  I think PC magazine is going to lose their status as a reviewer for metacritc for awhile over that one. I read an interview with the founder of metacritic where he says that if it's apparent that a reviewer had been obviously influnenced by a gaming company they will no longer carry their reviews.

Very unlikley.
I think it will get nominated for "Best RPG of the year" and even then its a long shot.
There is just way to much compititon this year.

Yah, I know. But to me, personally, that whole site left a very bad taste in my mouth. The fact that DA 2 is even listed, and some of the biggest contenders are not, skews the whole thing in my eyes.

It's really a cumulation of all things.
It's on the Escapist and vulnerable to staff interference. I'm not saying they would do it, I'm saying they "can" do it. Mix that with the mistrust I harbour for that site atm, plus the fact that some of the biggest contenders are not even listed, and all believabilty that this particular poll on that particular site has any significance whatsoever, is gone for me.

Nothing on you, nothing personal. It is indeed interesting, in that, why is it even listed, when Skyrim isn't.

As for goty.... i think it has ZERO chance it doesnt deserve nomination the highest score from places i trust were low 80s well below par for GOTY nominees in my books.

I really doubt it. For one, I think the consensus would be that Portal 2 is a better game right now. I highly doubt it'll be able to compete with games like Skyrim, ME3 or Battlefield 3 either. I'm not even sure if Origins would be able to compete with those games (though obviously, that's speculating), so I doubt DA2 would.

Even saying it has ZERO chance is optimistic in my humble opinion.
