DA2 is a good game. It, imo has solid replay value. Does it deserve GoTY? - No,absolutely not.
Maybe not, but the nerdrage brain hemorrhaging would be awesomely hilarious.

Depends on who is giving out the GOTY. Many of those 'Game of the Year' titles can be paid for, like the VGAs.
True, but who do you think EA/BioWare is going to milk the GotY more out of? DA2 or ME3?

It would have had a chance if no other game came out in 2011, even then it would be a long shot.
Don't worry, I'm sure all the reviewers would commit mass suicide if it came to that.

It was all Shoeless Joe's fault!
But he re-deemed himself in Field of Dreams.

That reminds me of Ultima Online. And how Ultima Online 2 was canned by EA because it would "compete against their own product". After sinking something like two million dollars into development.Anathemic wrote...

Now I don't think EA will do anything as stupid as canning or delaying ME3 to 2012 just so it won't compete against a non-contender like DA2, but you can't really count on them to make sensical choices either.

Can't remember which award series it is, but one was giving Fallout 3 all kinds of awards for "Best RPG", when I looked closer, the "Industry insiders" they claimed were voting?
A newspaper columnist, a couple magazine writers (Entertainment weekly, Time, etc), a handfull of websites that have pretty definitively proven they rate advertisers and not games. I think there were 2 of twenty that were legitimate.
It's all worthless, Awards, Reviews, Previews, they're all so bought it's not worth bothering to look at. Made by big name company? 10/10 and boatloads of awards.

Game of the Year will be Skyrim. Why? Because it will blow people's minds away with the Greater Staff of Awesomeness (Awesomeness 100% on target, Constant Effect)

DA 2 will not get GOTY. If Skyrim is any thing like Oblivion it will not make it either. I will withhold judgement on Skyrim until I play it. Hopefully it will be more like Morrowind and not Oblivion (with its bugs and bad story.)
Agreed with the last sentence, not the first.
Oblivion received tons of GOTY awards when it came out, so it's likely if that Skyrim sticks to a simila formula, it will also receive lots of accolades. I really didn't like Oblivion until it was heavily modded, but lots of people do.
As for my GOTY, with Mass Effect 3 officially off the table, I'd have to say that the main players are Skyrim, L.A Noire, Portal 2 and Battlefield 3. Witcher 2 may pickup an RPG of the year type award, or a GOTY from an RPG centric site, but it's unlikely to win too much critical praise.
