Am I missing something somewhere?  Where has casual wear for squad members been suggested?

Even if it is her combat outfit, I will be fine as long as Ashley doesn't take Miranda's attitude.

It hasn't; I'm just speculating. I think BioWare will go back to the ME1 style with ME3: Casual outfit for ship and combat outfit for missions.

At least I hope so.

I understand your hope (I even agree with it for the most part),  but,  unfortunately I don't think we'll be seeing any more logic when it comes to armor.

She'll need alot of assets to justify spending ME 2 pining for her. But I have one chump Shepard just in case there's any milage to be had from that in ME 3.

I'm not going to boycott the game because Ashley gets a new outfit.

Heck, I'll even take her along with me for the ride of our lives!
But every minute of that ride, I'll be looking at her and thinking: "armor, armor, where's your armor?"

I didn't really think about the, cough, other modification until this topic raised it.

So I went and checked the models for Ash from ME1 and compared it to Miranda from ME2, just to see the difference.
And please be mature about this picture:
Image IPB
We have the standard female model Ashley uses on the left.
We have Miranda's model on the right.
There seems to be quite a significant difference there.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, but if Bioware is making these alterations for fanservice, I'm going to be very concerned......

I think that desexualisation of women is a strategy that some overbearing men use to control them.

If it's sexist to say women shouldn't wear spandex and heels in combat than I guess I'm a chauvinist.

Nah, sorry. Rendering 2 bodies for each squadmate would cost too much disc space.  If she had a casual outfit for the normandy, it would be one of those cookie-cutter bodies like the one she had in ME1, nothing like the one seen in the Game Informer.  We may just have to live with zero-suit ashley.

They altered Fem!Shep's :D:D slightly too, right? More because they updated graphics than for fan service so I'm fine with it if Ash's :D:D increased slightly. The pic in GameInformer though? TOO MUCH.

Upgraded graphics? A Catsuit is just for 'upgraded' graphics? No it's just fanservice that wasen't wanted. Bioware has shown that they can make armor look unique with Shepard.

Thus the only conclusion, that's logical, is that Bioware is oversexualizing Ashley, that goes against her past history as a no-nonesense soldier, is to try and make her appealing to those that hated her over Innocent Virgin Liara in ME1 or any of the oversexualized ME2 LIs.

Y'all are sheltered if you think that the new Ashley represents "oversexualization".

You're the sheltered one.

ME1 and ME2 - She wore armor.
ME2 was more popular than ME1.
Ashley now looks like Miranda 2.0.

Coincidence? I think not.

I don't like the way her boobs are huge in that picture. For a girl to have such large bumps in such a tight outfit means she is packing serious ******. That would be at least an E cup - and Ashley in Mass Effect 1 didn't have that.

I hate the way bioware include ridiculous female bodies. Okay, I can handle Miranda and Samara - but leave Ash how she is. I like the fact she has a realistic body shape and is a believable character.

Are we talking about the same pic from the same issue of GI? Her chest is the same as it was in the first game. Or at least I don't see any change other than her armor is new. Argh all this whinning for nothing at all!

And oversexualized? really? Not even! She gets a new costume and now she's Miranda 2.0.

Relax guys. It's just the under-armour - the layer they wear under the heavier pieces of armour.
In the silly chance that I am wrong, pick up your pitchforks and torches, because that look is just silly for a brink-of-apocalypse fight. Same with anyone in ME2 that just had their regular garbs and a facemask as armour lol.

She does look Mirandafied, I'll give you that much. But as long as it's only her ship-board outfit, we're golden.

I don't see how that's any better? Ashley wearing that kind of tight leather(looks like leather at least) clothing as casual wear doesn't seem "in-character" either. It's just as ridiculous as wearing that in battle, someways even more ridiculous.

Stencil your screen with a black marker at boob-height or petition Bioware for a burlap bag DLC in ME 3 if Ashley turns out "Mirandized" in your opinion. Problem solved.

And you obviously don't recall the whine threads on "hyper-curvasious" female armors in ME 1. I do. Yours is a complaint as old as there have been Bioware games.

I think you misunderstood me.
Bolded - I meant that if Ash's :D:D were slightly larger in ME3 I would be fine with it, since the anatomy in ME1 was a bit messed up. Look at her neck, visually it's fine but subconciously you know it's not supposed to be that long...

Italicised - Just that. Bra? Padding? Man those are huge!

Also
- Innocent virgin Liara? Damn it, man I still can't look at Tali after I realised that made up a huge bulk of her fanbase. I liked Liara because of her Prothean knowledge, don't make me think that :pinched:

you know show of hands how many here would have rather had an Ashley with the same cookie cutter body of all other females in the game but with the option to customize her armor modular style like Shepard?

also

Kelly was not oversexualized (visually) but she I bet a lot of people would have rather had her than miranda or jack as a true LI

I think for those of us that really liked the character, it's not really the concern over a possible change in the body model as it is a modesty issue.  Ashley was a profesional Soldier who was concerned about the mission first and as such, her appearance never was all that important.  It is why she always wore heavy armor in combat because, unlike Miranda, she had enough intelligence to understand that a catsuit doesn't really do much to protect against projectile weapons.

not complaining, just trying to figure out how many here would rather have the substance of a full modular armor over the shallow "improved" looks of an unchangeable catsuit

I've said it before, I like Ash's new look and don't Bioware to change it. I don't think she's Miranda 2.0 and I didn't like the fact that in ME 2 almost everyone including female Shepard got an updated look but Ash and Kaidan who seemed stuck in their ME 1 looks and armor.

delightful....so....catsuit over armor for a hardened soldier

and do not chalk it up to her being a Spectre because Vasir was a spectre vanguard and she wore full armor

come to think of it care to explain to me how her look makes sense to you past the fact you appreciate its aestetics?

I rather have Ashley look exactly the same as in ME1 and 2 than have her become Mirandanized like she seems to be.
