arguably armosphere is retained by artificial gravity not by  sealing ME fields

No, not arguably.  The Codex flat out says an ME "membrane" is used on the Ward arms.

I stand corrected on that one, however on a standard personal Shield they cannot protect the user from anything but incoing fast moving projectiles.  Certainly not environmental hazards (not unless the suit is equipped with a humongous Eezo core, and good luck moving about with such a huge contraption bolted to your catsuit Miranda).

But I thought the whole point of this thread was Ashley's appearanceYes, I'd favor actual equipable gear if offered, but what really bugs me is the outfit, and the possibility that this is it, this is her look for ME3.

I mean, that might be someone's point. I can applaud the concept of giving a unique look, while still disliking Ashley's actuall outfit. The problem with unique outfits is some don't always come across as fitting a character, or are just plain bad. It's still better than Mass Effect 1 where she doesn't even have a look.

If it's a new character, that's one thing.  But Ashley has been around since ME 1, with an already established personality and look.   Given I prefer armor on all squadmates that are going into a gunfight, anyway this is especially troubling.  Armor can look unique too.

I've played my fair share of Bioware games. For most of them, I can't say diversity would have been much approved by putting everyone in armor. Yes, Mass Effect attempted to be 'realistic' but the attempt fell on its face, imo.

Armor can look unique, that cannot be denied. This is why I did not mind Garrus'/Grunt's outfits. However, 12 unique sets of armor has far more limitations placed on it than 12 unique outfits where some wear armor, jumpsuits etc. As I said, the biggest problem with unique appearancess is cases like Samara, where it doesn't suit her personality.

Mr. MannlyMan this is pretty much the same as I feel. I do hope that they don't turn Ashely into Mirianda 2.0, judging by what we've seen of her personality I don't belive that she would dress particularly promiscuously.

She certainly needs to up her game if she wants to win my Shepard back, compared to ME1.

After she dumped him on Horizon, he found ample comfort with Miranda. If she can't compete with that, she can forget about trying to amend things and getting back with him ;)

is there a dress code for promiscuous women?
what if she wore a "business suit"...would she dress monogamous?

what is considered normal, risque, and taboo attire in the ME Universe?
have they even revealed the complete outfit yet?

Honestly....I romanced Liara but if I did romance Ash I'd put it behind me after horizon. She was like a child on that encounter

Alright, according to the escapist, Derek Watts says that the people re doing the characters are the same ones who wrote them in the first place, nobody's getting "Mirandafied"

I'll quote somthing I said in another article.

Oh yes...more depth...despite the fact shes openly states in the first game she would never be caught dead wearing make-up or dresses or any of the sort...sure she likes poetry...that dont mean she suddenly wants to dress herself up. I swear you people act like fan service don't exist, and that EVERYTHING they do is to "add depth" to a character. Yea...having Isabella walk around with like triple D cups, no bra, a thong, and no pants adds more depth to the character. Having a blatent full screen shot of Miranda's "perfect" ass really adds depth to her character, having that ugly ****** on display for the world to see adds depth to her character.

It's not just Bioware...it's a vast ammount of video games. Women characters are always oversexualized because thats what the majority of gamers, men...like to see...sexy women. They saw how many men leaped all over Miranda and said Ashely was bland in compairison. Bioware knew Miranda's place in ME3 might be complicated given her posistion in Cerberus...so they primp up Ashely to compensate for her possible absence.

Thats my opinion on the matter until Bioware proves otherwise

They better change it.

Uh, when?  You referring to the "tinfoil miniskirt" thing?  'Cause that's not what that means.

Ash spend the past two years stripping to support her addiction that was brought on by her mourning of Shepard's death. Her lack of soldier-like attire is to be expected, as it is part of her "profession" now. And it is Shepard's fault.

Problem with that is you're comparing a teenager hitting puberty to someone in their mid 20's. By time you're 25, your boobs aren't going to get significantly bigger unless you get a boob job or pregnant.

That aside, I won't mind this armor so much as long as they don't go overboard with the fanservice and excessive ass shots like they did with Miranda.

Men are just as oversexualized as women, which is why all male characters tend to be tall and built.

I sincerely hope the screenshot is her new outfit on and off the ship. Looks great and makes more sense than wearing armor around like a knight.

Nah, soldiers don't wear big armor like that, it hinders motion too much. Hardsuits haven't been in common use since the dark ages, because they don't really work well. Ceramic plating would also be worthless against faster than light projectiles. Glad they're regearing to be more realistic and make use of the ME universe technology.

Wish they would get rid of the silly armor for Shepard, too.

...You think adding restrictive latex and high heels to combat scenarios/hazardous environments makes it more realistic?

Not to mention it goes against the lore ME1 already established.

Count me in. I also hope that it is not Ashley's final battle costume. Since she is supposed to be * spoiler (?) * a spectre, she could wear something like her fellow spectre colleague, Tela Vasir. After all, Vasir was a powerful biotic and a very skilled and experienced warrior and even she put a female spectre armor on her.

Not to mention that it would probably be more consistent character-wise (Ashley used to wear armors), lore-wise (soldiers in ME wear armor) and originality-wise (there are no armored females in Shepards squad).

Props to AkodoRyu, I guess.
Some little tweak here and there to make it more unique and she will be perfect, IMO.

EDIT: Maybe the best solution would be to leave it up to player whether he/she wants to put the armor on Ashley or not. That way both the fans of armors and the fans of ehm... catsuits (?) should be satisied.

I want her looks to be changed back to the way they were. She can let her hair down, but I can do without the plastic surgery. I swear she looks ugly now by that new picture.

As a Soldier class, Ashley has always had access to the Heavy class armor.

So why is she now wearing a glorified leather bodysuit?

In ME1, Heavy Armor was a glorified leather bodysuit, sillykins. It was also the armor that rode up your bumcrack. Incidentally, however, you have to level up her Combat Armor rating about halfway to unlock heavy armor--she only starts with access to Medium Armor.

PR Lies at its finest.

Ashley wore heavy ramor in ME1 and ME2.

Suddenly, for no reason whatsoever, she's dressing like a **** in ME3.

Okay, dude, slight facial changes as graphics improve are just part of the territory, I don't say it often, but in this case: "Deal with it."

Other characters have seen a lot worse in that department. Ashley's face is basically unchanged.

A female soldier/operative doesn't need to be done up with makeup and some lame catsuit to be sexy. Heavy armour and an assault rifle fits Ash's personality nicely, it would be a mistake to change that.
