It's obvious. What other character had different outfits at different points in ME2 besides alternates? They make 1 character model, it's too difficult to make multiple models for the same character.

But didn't they do this in ME1? For the human characters anyway. They had whatever armor you equipped them with for missions and their alliance fatigues while on the ship. Not sure why they couldn't do this again.

Ashley just had the standard female body model that every human did.

I'm serious guys if they don't increase Kaidan's stubble per inch ratio by 13% I'm canceling my preorder. This is important to me.

Yes. I think we all get it.

It's not funny anymore.

I personally like the way Ash looks, and would be upset if they took her back to the bun and "pink armor" again. In ME 2 pretty much everyone of the main cast who returned got an updated look except Ash and Kaidan. Tali got remodeled exo-suit, Garrus changed too and there was a story reason for some of his appearance change Liara got new make-up and armor in the Shadow Broker dlc.

you know....as unpleasant as having Ash run around in catsuits might be there is a solution

you either
A: Airlock her at the first ingame occasion
B: do not recruit her (if you can)
and if A or B fail
C: do not talk to her, do not bring her along unless you HAVE to

oh and Diskoh, Silicon Knights is a developing studio........they are developers.....they failed something fierce with too human. Moral of the story, Developers are fallible.

Bioware strongly believed no one would want to romance Tali in ME1...they were dead wrong as we all know

Bioware might or might not have decided to give that particular outfit to Ashley permanently but either way they may or may not be right about that choice because they are fallible. Being a developer does not make give you an impenetrable fail-shield

notice also that there are ME2 characters with more than one model.....look at Garrus, he has 2, his armor and his casual clothes for the love scene. Shepard had several.....Liara has 2 as well. So you REALLY do not know if that is her final and only outfit

it would not be the first time that a fans' reaction to visual apparance reults in changes, look at infamous 2

I see nothing, but complaints in this thread. Well, from what I skimmed through, if I passed by a positive post, I apologize.

I would like to offer the opposite of the general consensus:

Disregarding everything below her head, don't you think she looks a lot better?

My thing was in ME 1 and 2, the huge eyes creep me the hell out. Also, except for the Asari and Miranda, the mouths for the female characters all looked off to me. The mouths look horrible.

Now for the picture we get of Ashley in ME3, her mouth looks a lot better overall. I also like the sleeker look of the eyes. Her nose looks a lot better to. And her hair looks great, I was never a fan of bun hairstyles as a whole and like the fact that her hair is down in the picture.

Yes, I think she looks much prettier, but more importantly the textures and overall style looks a lot better than the last two games. I hope it shows in the Female Shepard too. I mean, compared to Male Shepard, default and customized looks, female Shepard looks like she was more of an after thought.

As for the clothes: Personally, I don't care if that's what she wears during combat and seems like a bad reason to stop playing a game series because it doesn't meet your expectations. Also for me, gameplay is more important than whether or not I can believe that those clothes offer as much protection as heavy armor.

I mean: in ME2 all the armor is good for is looks and increasing your Shield, Health, and Weapon and Power damage. None of it reduces how much Health damage the characters take so I don't see the need for heavy armor in the first place. They would have to go back to ME1's system for me to even believe armor at all has a purpose and thus characters shouldn't be so lightly clothed.

This topic is a bit of a dead horse, but If that picture isn't telling I don't know what is. When did Ashley turn into Wonder Woman?

I don't mind Ash changing her look (hair, etc.), but the lack of heavy armor is very un-Ashley IMO. Hopefully that's just the casual gear she wears on ship, though it appears a bit too "armor" like for me to believe that's true. I know it's not the biggest issue, but dagnabit stuff like this just destroys the credible universe ME1 tried to create.

True not all combatants wear armor and some solely rely on the kinetic barrier (those were mainly petty thugs however). But Ashley has always been a frontline soldier. Frontline soldiers wear armor. Gah I won't be surprised if she has Biotics in ME3.

She wasn't wearing heavy armor when she debuted in ME1, I guess the character has been un-Ashley since she was created.

What are you talking about? In ME1, Ashley could literally wear any type of human armor. She wasn't fixed to one armor.

On Virmire, Ash wore the heavy phoenix armor when you were at the salarian camp, regardless of what you had here wearing or if she could wear it.

I would prefer Ashley as a more practical person when it comes to armour and looks. She is a front line soldier, not a model. She looked rather hot in heavy armour and tied up hair in ME1 by the way.

Cleavage, high heels and long hair in battle however, made me leave Miranda on board usualy. It just looks silly.

But hopefully this is just Ashleys off duty looks.

Do you actually believe that's her combat armour? Seriously? Just look at Kaidan, she will proabably have similar armour to his.

That "catsuit" is just her casual wear.

That's what people said about Miranda and Samara right up until release.

Yeah but come on....they can't be this silly

Sure they can, just look at Dragon Age  2

I agree the armor from Gears of War is unrealistically ridiculous, but instead of looking at GOW, let's try looking at the more relevant ME1: Did Kaidan and Ashley wear big, clunky, unrealistic armor in that game? Don't think so.

So your solution is to go into a firefight wearing a catsuit or a nightie?

And how is that an example of showing ignorance towards the Mass Effect universe? As far as I know Mass Effect 2 (the SECOND game, ie. the one that came out after the universe establishing FIRST game) was the first game to introduce stripperific combat wear. The first Mass Effect had all combatants geared adequately according to their combat roles and body types, that means variations of combat armor for all classes that looked infinitely more practical in such situations.

What if Ashley is wearing some sort of advanced nano suit that has the same damage mitigation as heavy armor? Isn't less bulky and restrictive armor considered a good thing?

Just generic armor that thankfully has fallen by the wayside in favor of a more personalized identity for the characters. Fitting since they're no longer standard issue soldiers you got stuck with on a mission, but a long time friend who has developed into a real person. Thrilled they decided to have the character design reflect the character development instead of being lazy and sticking them with another default cookie cutter body/armor.

I just feel that the pink in Ashley's armor was kind of ridiculous in ME1, anyway. On the whole she was very well-designed and avoided this level of stupidity quite nicely, but that pink... look, there's nothing wrong with anyone liking the color, but it tends to scream girly when you slap it on the outfit you're supposedly fighting for your life in.

I mean, what the heck is the camo value on that thing? What was she doing, fighting inside a giant chocolate box?
